Its a wonderful platform for programmers/learners but because of childish attitude of some people , i think so its ranked down,CP should do something about it :( . http://www.topsite.com/best/programming[^]

SOFTDEV Luck in life always exists in the form of an abstract class that cannot be instantiated directly and needs to be inherited by hard work and dedication.

In my opinion, i do not think that websites ranking carries any weight, and the site is just a glorified link aggregator...

I think maybe some of the questions should be moderated before they are released to the public domain. In fact, JQuery site does just that....can't think why.

It's eighth in what appears to be a somewhat arbitrary list of code and coding sites (including a sponsored one placed so it looks like it's number 2) and there is a difference between the 2. I'd like to know how they put the list together and why they would lump differing sites under the same umbrella. Besides, in any group of millions of people not finding some that are not as mature as others would be unlikely, to say the least. The enduring nature of CP is testament to its popularity and the fact that it still attracts new members and articles: I use other sites when I need info, but I rely on CP to point me in the right direction through well written articles and tips/tricks provided by professional coders. Finally, I enjoy the banter in the forums that helps to relieve some of the stress of the job and I really don't mind when someone is rude or takes the piss: it's all part of the fun. So relax, chill out: when all the other sites are fading memories CP will still be here to light the way. Chris: send that money to my home address, if you please. :-)

CP is a family; a digital one, but at the end it is a family. Love it or hate it, but seeing that there are 7663654 members here means something... There is a lot of people here and each day new ones discover it and appear here. Almost everyone here enjoys staying and loves to help and to be helped. Probably that you are crying too much... change your attitude and you'll get a different feedback... Its about having the decencancy to look hard and do some research before asking for help. Jeez, the problem with people is they are far too lazy to look for an answer. Maybe its because I was a developer before the internet became mainstream and guys like us had to research and god forbid - READ. This was way before the internet handed you everything on plate.

OH MY GOD! It's ranked down! can this cause any damage to the servers? will the internet stop working? how about us - will we need to do real work? And oh - by the way - WHO ranked all this sites? Quote from similarsites.com[^]

Our unique similarity technology combines sophisticated algorithms for analyzing the web and user input to achieve the best results for each surfer’s current mindset.

SimilarSites.com takes user opinions into account when sorting relevant sites. Each search result has “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” buttons, letting users help us determine a site’s relatedness. As more users search and submit feedback, the results get increasingly accurate.

                            regards Torsten

You can always go to another site if this site bothers you so much. IMHO...I think you need thicker skin. It's a brutal world out there and if you let the small stuff get to you then you will be eaten alive and there won't be any SOFTDEV left for the world to appreciate. ;)

I still believe that you learn better from good books and figuring things out for yourself (at least I have this experience with programming and electronics). The information on the internet is a tricky thing. I have a feeling the the global ratio of [useful information]/[nonsense] is rapidly approaching zero. One has to be able to filter out the crap. With a good book you won't have that problem.
