After posting my CV online and specifically saying where i want to work I am 4 hours through the working day and getting to the point where i am about to hurl my mobile phone through the window!!!!:mad::mad::mad: I fail to understand which bit of my Job Ad they cannot read!!! The amount of times I have said on the phone that I am looking for a specific area is boggling! I dont want a role in Glasgow, I dont want a role in London.. i dont want a role in Timbuk****too! Read my ad and you will see where I want to work! Because of the amount of pointless *spam* calls I am getting from them, I am just letting them build up in my voicemail and will probably end up deleting 99% of calls as they do not meet my location criteria! But will me telling them what Location stop them from posting ones that are not at the location I want?? Nope!! GRRR!

I think you may have misunderstood how the whole "online job ad" thing works. ;) If you are going to prostitute yourself online then you have to know that the crazy John's are going to come out of the woodwork as well as legit businesses. You are acting naive if you don't. - good luck. :)

Isn't it amazing how in a free market only the excellent agencies survive?

Of course they ignore that: they know that if they can offer you the right contract the location may become unimportant.

And if one came along and offered you a job at 110K salary, with a 60% bonus scheme and generous relocation package, you wouldn't want to know about it? I was approached by an agency offering me exactly that based on recommendations from a bank desperate for people with solid WPF experience.

Many of them (I suppose) are headhunters. They're paid for filling the positions. So, indeed, it's just like spam: answer a thousand ads. If you get a hit, then you make your thousands in commission. If you delete it - no skin off their nose.

No. It was London - for a rather well known French bank who's first three initials are the same as a very bad political party here in the UK.

They don't care about you or the position just the quick buck they will make placing you. In fact they make more money if you don't work out and they have to replace you again. My personal favorite is being sent job requirements that require excellent English language communication skills and then getting a call from someone who, well, doesn't.
