well in reality, to give an example of alternate ways to do bad things. I personally am 6'3" tall, about 280 lbs and mostly muscle. A little extra padding with age(about 10 lbs) but mostly still solid. I am also, lets say, very capable of doing massive damage with no weapons whatsoever. Cockpit cabin doors are not really that strongly built I'm quite confident that I could get through one if I really wanted to. Now picture somebody of my size with even far more fighting skills bent on terror. This somebody knows how to fly a plane at least the basics of navigating it. obviously landing is not the issue in this particular case.. This person takes flight on a smallish plane(fewer passengers to combat) and just physically takes it over and does horrible things with it. All that "security" amounted to diddly squat. Now I know this is a reach but then again, is it? Granted sniffing for bombs, guns etc, is perfectly legitimate. but the extents they have gone to in this country I personally believe to be a "dog and pony show" as we called it back when I was in the Army. Looks good on paper for the politicians, but then the jobs get staffed by thugs on power trips and you have the current state of affairs in our "security" at the airports. Six year olds getting groped, a 5 year old taken OUT OF SIGHT of her parents to be searched and the list goes on. And god forbid that I forgot to take my nail clippers out of my pocket where they stay 12 months out of the year normally. Expensive items getting stolen(its in the news on a regular basis and proven and convicted, not just alleged.), peoples lives disrupted for no good reason other than the "I have a badge" mentality. And I did not use the word thugs lightly either. I have personally met(attended school with) some of the TSA employees in Memphis International. The word thugs and walking attitude would be the good things to say about them. I'm quite sure(before I get shot at here) that there are some wonderful people working for the TSA who are only hellbent on doing their job and getting people on those planes. I'm just as sure there are about as many hellbent on being the biggest jackass they can simply because they can get away with it.

Politicians, hmmmmm..., If they had to put up with being groped and searched as we do then maybe things would change. I carry a pocket knife and have to remember to leave it at home, which makes me feel like I am missing something. Note I could not fight my way out of a wet paper bag. Your point of a trained person, do not most reports start "He was trained in...". Thus a little hand to hand training and many things could be used as weapons. Sorry for the rant. I do not even fly that often.

You could cut through it with the metal knife of course. Or just put on the hostess uniform, knock on the door and say "coffee captain?"

Why you need a hostess uniform to do this, they will open the door anyway? Or just for style? :-D

So I'm getting on the plane and going through security with the wife and we get through when she notices that her boarding pass is my connecting flight's boarding pass. They never looked at the name on the boarding pass, just initialed it. It brought back memories of how by boss got a 5" knife through security in his carry on right after 9/11 and we're all still paying $10 a ticket for security theater. I just wish they'd hand out popcorn or something since we have all bought tickets every time we fly.

It didn't quite seem like backroom material, but could get pretty testing between people here. I could see a flame war cropping up.

I doubt much else of the outfit would fit me really. I was thinking more of the average asian terrorist build, you know, 5 ft 6, 10 stone.

I once had to do some system updates at one of the UK's highest security prisons (IRA and Palestinian terrorists, serial killers etc). I remembered when I arrived that I had a Swiss Army knife in my suit pocket, so took it out and left it in the car. I then entered the prison and went through an airport style security desk - x-ray machine for my briefcase, metal detector arch, hand held metal detector wand and a patdown for me. It was only when I got into the admin office and opened my briefcase that I realised I had a stationery pouch with me - stapler, scissors, Stanley Knifr (box-cutter) etc. Obviously nobody was watching the screen as the bag went through! A year or two earlier, several IRA prisoners broke out, shooting a guard with a pistol that had been smuggled in by a visitor!
