How to change icon of exe file? [modified]

i cant google it because of sonicwall :( just code project allowed here, so asking you guys. thanks in advance edit: stop cursing me..... :^) its not programming question. am talking about any exe not the one only in bin folder. (like yahoo messenger exe)

Edit the exe in a resource editor. VS can do this. Open it as resources, and do what you want to it.

No, open it in a resource editor, like VS. Each exe has a resources section that contains strings, version, icons, bitmaps, all sorts of crap. This is freely editable after the exe is compiiled.

You have been treated very nicely in the Lounge up till now. Lounge is not for programming questions. That's what it says at the top in Big Red font when you try to post a question here. Ask programming question in Questions and Answers Section of the site.Link here.[^]

So the only area you are allowed to go to at all is the lounge? Are the forums here blocked? What about the Questions & Answers sections? Well, that's one tough set of restrictions you've got going on there.

Use this site Clicky[] to convert any image to .ico and use it in your .exe file

Lesson learned hopefully. There's a big hunk of text at the top in a very bold font telling you not to post programming questions here in the lounge. This is where we come to get away from programming, or in Dalek Dave's case, to talk to real programmers and not Excel monkeys ;) .

Right click on the file in explorer, select 'Properties' from the context menu and on the dialog that pops up select the most suitable looking button.

dude u didnt understand what i was trying to ask, it was not programming question, i want to change exe icon, like i have yahoo messenger exe, not one in bin folder
