Well as most of you know I injured myself at work yesterday and my loving organization has forced me to take a long leave (not that I am complaining about this) but its day one I am bore already. So tell me what all things I can do to kill times (Please do include any kind of violent suggestion). I am peace loving person so kill yourself, jump of the Cliff, Kick the dogs ass(well do not mind doing that I hate that dog) are not welcome.

Play games, watch backlog of TV recordings, code something interesting, implement a backup strategy, review finances and move money to accounts that pay more interest, make start on the colossal mountain of mail and email thats built up etc. Not that I ever do any of these things as outside of work I've always been stupidly busy - I did used to keep a list of things that need doing when I get time but gave up on that long ago as it just kept growing so to keep stress levels lower I just got rid of it.

Make a better mousetrap, solve world hunger, formulate the Unified Field Theory, cure cancer, breed, watch a video, write a book, cook a meal, gardening, sleep, get drunk, play golf, visit relatives, look for a better job, surf the net, re-arrange your record collection, become a private investigator, pick up litter around your area. When you have done all these, come back for some more tasks.

Make a better mousetrap? Is there anything more efficient at killing mice than a cat?

I like the idea presented so far of an Unified Field Theory... actually, such a theory in part already does exist, it is called the "Standard Model". What is missing, and till now is over thirty years it is discussed, is a good theory of gravity from a quantistic point of view. So far, the principal attempt, namely the "String M Theory", didn't yet produce any real experimental prediction, not even about such things of academic interest here in this forum such as the "Rapture". What I will do if I were in your position? It is spring, as such the Como Lake in Italy is as beatiful as ever, I would just take my board & rig and do a bit of windsurfing ... there are always thermal winds on the lake due to the difference in temperature between night and day and the presence of mountains just "diving" into the lake... Instead, I'm here sitting in my office writing a system in PL/SQL for a mad DataWareHouse, for mad clients, for an ETL batch of some billions records to work each day. Cheers Federico

Hi CS2011, Sorry to hear about your burn ! Maybe this "forced vacation" will actually give you some quality time to think about what's of real value to you. In my own life, at times, there have been what I perceived as "involuntary down-times," but often my perceptions changed if I allowed myself to "sit still," to come to a state of "profound rest," during those periods. Yes, easy to say, and more difficult to find than the murderer who killed time yesterday. to your health, best, Bill

Fill in the gap :) As you said earlier there are a few things you need to cover up for this new responsibility, and accident happened because of the same. IMHO this is a great opportunity to cover up :D

Is "gnawing your leg off" considered violent?
