First two where free. Second two where cheap. The Trabi was so much fun around town and since then I've been married and 'responsible'. The TA is just pleasure. Here are some pictures[^] of what it looks like [not my one].

Crappy small cars can be a lot of fun. Where I come form the lanes are vey narrow, often no more than 6 ft, with very high hedges/earth banks each side. A small cheap car is a lot more fun, you drive half the time with it scraping on the hedge/mud, you dont care, its smal, nimble... Any big car like a Ferrari would be dogmeat. The TAs a funny thing though, it looks like a mini-van! :)

Yeah, its a nice car. Only problem is the power steering belts break, fall into the cam shaft belt, and destroy the engine. And thats what happened to mine. :(

I'm beginning to think you are a little hard on your cars. :)

          I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

1978 Triumph Spitfire --> 1979 Triumph Spitfire --> 1990 Eunos Roadster (MX5 Gray Import) --> 2001 Audi A4. I'm currenly driving my Father-in-Law's Mercedes E class, despite the fact it really shift I hate driving it. a) Its an automatic and automatics are for remtards. b) The stopping distance compares unfavourably with a transatlantic liner(really bad, given the driving "style" here) c) It handles like a tank b&c are caused by the sheer mass of the thing. My favourite was the Spitfire: I rebuilt the first one, so it was very much my car, it handled beautifully (at least in the dry), had the most precise steering I've ever used and although it wasn't very powerful, could pull away thanks to the first two gears being pretty low (actually the gearbox was really good). It was also gorgeous to look at. I sold my last one in 2003, and still miss it.

At the moment I have: * Saab 9-5 Aero, gets me to and from work. * Porsche 944, used for trackdays. * Opel Calibra Turbo, sadly not much used these days. Used to be a summer car. I also own parts of: * 1/3 BMW race car used for endurance racing. * 1/4 Ford Cortina that is under rebuild to be a race car with modern drivetrain and chassis.
