So I was browsing a support forum when I hit a page with this message: "You cannot make another search so soon after your last; please try again in a short while." worst part is, it is not just limited to searching, if you mistakenly click a navigation link and then go back and click the link you actually wanted to click, then you get the message. It seems to be about a 10 second cool down

I may or may not be responsible for my own actions

I hate cooldowns on websites... I can't view a page without clicking on one link or another within the first few seconds!

      It's an OO world.

Reminds me of the time Google thought I was a bot. Guess you shouldn't enter too many formulas in a short period of time.

I am wondering if for charity I should do a sponsored "wait 10 seconds between every action" day... that would be more challenging than any physical exercise I can imagine! ... tick... tock... tick... tock... Post Message

Interview Questions... Interviewer: What can you offer to our company? Interviewee: I know a lot about the language and I... *gets disrupted by the interviewer* Interviewer: Please wait 10 seconds before continuing with your answer... ... ... ... ... A couple of hours later: Interviewer: Don't call us, we'll call you. X|

I have seen severe errors on websites when you could hit the 'submit' button several times before the first request was through. In such cases there must be some kind of limitation to your requests. But if it is just about preventing DoS attacks, then a little more intelligence may be in order. Something like monitoring the average between your clicks and adjusting the waiting time up when the average falls below a certain limit and no waiting time as long as your average stays above the limit.

Unfortunately this is part of the membership we got, and it was be no means cheap!

Yeah, got that on my filmmaking forums. But it's 30, I think. That, and search terms must be greater than 3 characters. Never mind that most things you'll want to search for ARE three characters in length. You have to make a guess as to what else might have been in the post you're looking for, or you'll just get an invalid search message...along with the please wait 30 seconds before trying again.
