Even if they had produced no other music whatsoever, Comfortably Numb earns their place (and yes, they are my favourite band). Gilmour is an amazing player - technique wise he's sloppy, but musically he's unparalleled.

OK, he didnt do sweep picking, tapping blah blah blah, but its not everyones taste. Pink Floyd doing thrash metal would just be wrong. :) And yes, feeling wise there is no one close to him.

See, this is the thing. While I love doing the technical stuff for showing off to the lads, I also love just kicking back and playing some slow blues or, gasp, some acoustic tracks. It can be useful to know the technical side, but without feeling it's all for nothing. I know I've got it right if I'm writing some stuff at home and the kids or the wife say, "that's beautiful".

Heh, funny you should mention that... I was at a concert last weekend for The Machine, one of the more popular Pink Floyd tribute bands... A concert on a boat decked out like a nightclub that sailed around New York Harbor... The band played three songs (Well, two and a half), then the boat's generator died and we were adrift for two hours while another boat towed us back to the dock. Imagine 500 Pink Floyd fans on a boat, at night, without power (Meaning: No lights), but with copious amounts of alcohol and certain other "substances".

Dirty Deeds, and their older stuff, well most of it's old now but still very refreshing.

It was broke, so I fixed it.

Well, we did a little sing-along to Happiest Days of our Lives, but I don't think they brought any acoustic guitars... Electric guitars don't really make much sound without power.

I think there is only 1 instrument that these two were capable of playing with.

                              I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

It's why I dropped it in. It's the best of their newer albums.

I think so, the more I listen to them the better they get. The stuff Pete Docherty has done since is good too, a lot of people don't realise because they only read the shit about him, but he's got some amazing talent. I haven't listened to anything earlier than Oasis, apart from The Doors and I think them two would make up the remainder of my Top 3.

I love the whole Syd Barret storyline to Pink Floyd. Anywho, my favorite band that I can listen to anytime, especially when drinking, is the Dirty Three. Jim White is pretty much the best drummer I can think of, plays the style my grandfather and father played, and I now play. No vocals, but 3 of the best individual musicians in my opinion. No, the drummer is not this guy: http://www.nndb.com/people/214/000029127/[^] but looks like him. If you have youtube: studio (one of my fave songs, too): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6FI7TnlmTI&feature=related[^] live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzoAwcg0gsQ&feature=related[^]
