Whilst I can accept a bijou piquancy on my cheeseburger, I would maintain that the addition of bacon is obligatory to enhance the olfactory and gustatory enjoyment of aforementioned fried pabulum.

See - this is exactly why posting survey questions is so hard. You think there's an easy question, then you realise the subtleties involved and then it's one endless night of research on nitrates, pork products and the dairy industry.
