Bad eye
-
Somehow, and I have no idea how, I have hurt my right eye. Feels like a rock under my eyelid scraping across my eye every time I blink. Went to the optician this afternoon and he thinks it might be an allergic reaction to my contact lenses. Can't wear them till it calms down which means I'm trying really hard not to blink and I hate wearing glasses even when I'm forced to. Oh well, quite helpfully he said that if it doesn't go down in the next 2 days to call him. That after I swear he had my eye resting on my cheek and eyelid folded back up over itself like some bad origami. He said my capillaries are swollen which is what is causing the rubbing. No shit, sherlock. Doh! Oh well, another fine mess I've gotten myself into! :)

Are you sure there isn't something in there? like a microscopic shard of metal or wood? I once went 2 weeks with a piece of metal stuck under my eyelid scratching my eye...luckily, not the cornea. Didn't know what was going on. Thought it was my allergies too. Took an eye doc with a huge magnifying glass, a very small pair of tweezers and a steady hand to get it out. He numbed the eye up first with some drops. Years ago, I also had a scratched cornea due to a piece of metal under my eyelid. Eye doc ("iDoc"?) got it out. Had to wear a patch over the eye for about 1-2 weeks and put drops in it to heal. The good news is that the cornea is one of the fastest healing parts of the body. Don't let it go too long. Best of luck... JT

It doesn't even need to be something metallic or hard...I have an aunt who goes twice a year to the iDoc(eye Doc ;P ) because he has her eyelashes so long they get stuck and incrustrated in her eyes, which causes similar symptoms as the ones you describe :(

Usually, people use words that I don't know. Not even Google seems to know this one! ;P

No, he had a good look with his instruments and took pictures: the capillaries under the lid are a little swollen but there is nothing that would account for the 'rock' feeling. As an update I woke up at about 0330 this morning with a very sharp pain in my eye. I tried to get back to sleep but at about 0500 I gave up and slapped in a pair of lenses (out of the packaging!) and that relived the pain though I the right eye is blurry! Should heal by tonight and I'll try again. back to the optician next week for a follow up.
