If you are experiencing the same thing as me, you moused over the link and saw some "adclick" URL due to Code Project having problems loading ads today. Did it have a problem? I briefly saw a few adds, then Adblock plus got tuned to them... Not that I would use such a thing, Mr Maunder sir, no sir, not me. Honest1 1Fingers firmly crossed makes it difficult to type...

I love Wikipedia and use it all the time but sometimes they irritate the hell out of me and this time of year is no exception. Thing is, the spokesperson is a programmer. :wtf:

Wikimedia actually has a bunch of staff. I actually used to work with one of the guys on that list. The people who donate their time for free are a huge help, but there still need to be a few key players to help guide the organization. For example, the developers innovate so that Wikimedia does not stagnate (e.g., to enhance the technology to match what others are offering). And management is especially important. There has to be somebody who says "this is what Wikipedia is supposed to look like and here's how we get there." Not to mention people who need to handle the finances, such as donations and how to apply them (servers and bandwidth aren't free). Wikipedia wouldn't be the preeminent source of online encyclopedic knowledge without the core Wikipedia team, nor would it be without all the contributors who work for free.

And this is why I still donate every year. They annoy the shit out of me with this money drive thing they do but I always give, every year, because they are awesome and they provide a free, valuable service.
