Duke Nukem. Decisions decisions

Been thinking of picking up Duke Nukem Forever, but I have been seeing some really bad reviews. :( DN3D was one of my favorites, is Duke Nukem Forever, aside from the updated graphics, on par? Hate to spend hard earned cash only to be disappointed.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

Don't do it... Remember the Duke for what he was. The Duke anno 2011 can only be disappointment :(
It's an OO world.

I really enjoyed the game. I'd recommend getting it for PC. The xbox load times are horrible. If you're looking for a game with explosions, chicks, and one liners. This game is hard to beat. I think most the reviewers just wanted to hate this game given how long it took to materialize. The game is not without its problems. It's no half-life or call of duty. But that said I had a lot of fun playing it. If they ever make another I'll buy that too.

I haven't seen/played it yet, but my younger brother (Mid 20s) has, and gave it some pretty high praise. He and I used to co-op DN3D on our home network back in the day, so we're both fans of the original*. * Yes, I know DN1 and DN2 came first, but DN3D was the REAL beginning
Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?

The trick is to get the next one. No matter what DNF will suck. For the next version, there will not being any hype to live up to and the game can focus on the code. Heck, it might even break new ground instead merely being a FPS clone.

I will answer this question, no, it's not really on par, and there's one major reason. The levels allow NO freeplay and NO exploration. You are forced to take a very obvious path from A to B. DN3D was not this way.

False, it's a lot of guilty pleasure fun.
Possibly, but ask yourself is it worthy of the Duke? ;P

There are some interactions, but they are painfully obvious :(

or just painful : poop interaction is the highlight of the game.
Watched code never compiles.

Microwaving rats wasn't too obvious. Wonder if it will let you microwave poop.....

Given the smell of what some people microwave in this office, that could be an improvement.

I have it on the XBox and it is one of the worst games I have ever played - it's very linear, the guns are crap, the aiming is useless, you often get killed because you end up inside some monster so you can't damage them but they can damage you. You need to take cover a lot but there is no cover system. It's just an awful game.

If you have to see the end of 14 years long misery, then buy it. If you want to get it for gameplay and you're fun old-school shooters, then don't. In that case you better bet on Sam.

The Duke isn't about guilty pleasure; he's about hard-ass -- correction: He's the definition of hard-ass.
