One of the ESA Cluster satellites because the programmers tested their code with three failed circuit breakers, they assumed that all five would NEVER fail - which is what happened. See www.esa.int/esaCP/SEMTI34TBPG_index_0.html[^] A moral tale... Jerry

I tend to think the other way, that the worst case error WILL in fact happen.

Programming is a race between programmers trying to build bigger and better idiot proof programs, and the universe trying to build bigger and better idiots, so far... the universe is winning. A crisis on your part does not constitute one on mine.

The only problem with worst case scenarios is that the worst case you can think of, can be easily topped by three things: 0. Users 1. Nature 2. Murphys Law

It was broke, so I fixed it.

And the moral is, Murphy always wins. As a reminder of that, I have a sign over my desk to remind me that "Murphy was an Optimist!"

          Will Rogers never met me.

If it can go wrong it will ... unless there's a worse time for it to happen.
