I just deleted 3200 emails from my Inbox... How often do you cull the herd to remove the ones you're never going to look at again?

    Will Rogers never met me.

Never more than once a year. Usually when I've accumulated about a thousand unopened ones that are flagged as urgent.

I use boxbe[^] as my spam blocker. There are, unfortunately, a few spam emails that are still passing through.

I use a hosted mailbox, and to be honest not a lot of spam coming through, my hotmail accounts seems to filter a lot of crap as well.

That seems about right. But others I know keep no more than 20 emails at a time - I don't know how they do it.

In the old days of a 2GB file size limit, I ran a clean-up once I went over a thousand emails. Now I am running Office 10 64 bit, with a 50GB limit, I have got seriously sloppy - current PST file about 6GB. :-O

Rarely. I just keep on archiving them and only delete when my archive file gets large enough to fill my hard drive.

Post your email id here and you will get six times the emails you just cleared up very quickly. :-D

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

I never delete them - create a new PST move all mails to it and detach and put the compressed PST in a backup medium.

One of my email accounts has a 100 MB limit, so it fills quite often. So I end up deleting stuff out of there about once a month. That is also why I switched to a gmail account. 604 MB so far and counting.

Every week; hundreds of emails. I archive the important ones and delete the rest.

I just use ReminderFox with Thunderbird. When I read mails I either delete them or schedule a reminder for it and archive it. My Inbox usually has less than 20 mails. When scheduling reminders I try to distribute it over the weekdays. Works very well for me.

As an email admin I'm somewhat obligated to keep messages going back a ways. Just yesterday I got around to removing anything older than a year in my main mailbox, about 2,000 messages. Another thousand or so were removed from my sent items. I probably go through this on a quarterly basis, at least where my business messages are concerned. But since we're allowed to use our work accounts for personal mail I have several folders for those and I try to keep them down to under 100 messages each. Regardless, I probably still have around 8,000 messages in my account. However, compared to some of my compatriots I'm a piker for storage. Things wouldn't be so bad if so many of my users consider email to be a file storage system and records management tool. I have one user who has over 250,000 items in her account and, at last count, accounts for over 16Gig of storage. One of her subordinates has over 18Gig. Compared to them I'm an angel.

I'm not a programmer but I play one at the office

With GMail I don't have to worry about neither deleting emails or spam. Spam works pretty godd, very, very rarely I get any spam at my inbox and I still have around 5 GB of email storage left.
