      :omg: Hide this message!!!! What would happen if The Osmosian Order would see it and would restart the "plain english" nightmare? :rolleyes: Sorry... couldn't resist... [from here it tries to be a serious post] If you meant popular then I'd choose C# If you meant important... then the question lacks some details: like industry type, target...

              Doesn't answer your question directly, as I don't understand what you mean by 'important', but shows the most popular programming languages: clickety[^]

                  Exactly. Either that or using a Hex keypad like on my old Z80 with 2K of memory.

                      Commercially: It seems to be C# though many say Java is still king. (Not that it shows up in the adds I see though). Technically: C will always be the most important language. Period. Its the backbone of everything. Embedded code, compilers, OSs, the lot. --edit-- Aeroplanes, space shuttles, elevators, ...

                      ============================== Nothing to say.

                        Naturally a search won't reveal anything useful on a topic like that. You have to understand that there is no such thing as a "most important" language. That is like saying english or german are the most important spoken languages which may be true in England or Germany respectively, but both are pretty much useless for day to day living in say... Italy or Greece. Different programming applications require different solutions and different languages present different benefits and drawbacks, so there is pretty much no way to generalize that.

                        I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.
