Really? Did they finally add in girl on girl action and explosions? Did they finally reveal who Frodo's father was?

Bah, that can't be right. I'm going to edit the wiki to show that his father was in fact Chewbacca.

Maybe Hermione finally got to show Harry what his fireballs were for?

I sense a large group of people too ashamed to admit that the Harry Potter series is quite brilliant.

It's not that brilliant. Some of the acting in the earlier films was pretty awful and it's a relatively standard background theme made interesting by the world in which it's set. Don't get me wrong, it was an enjoyable read and entertaining but no more than that and certainly not a piece of literary genius. I've read far better books and far worse, have seen far better films and far worse.

You're right. Fairy tales about geeky nerds who discover they have superdooper powers and are secretly somehow related to beings with great power are as old as Moses, King Arthur, and Superman. Rowling's gimmick of a boarding school for magic was her only contribution to a plot as old as time. The movie on the other hand had the additional attraction Emma Watson who I am sure was the fantasy of many a young boy who was dating his palm.
