One fancy feature of the new redesign of MSDN web site is the Movable Toolboxes (they like this name). You can rearrange\collapse any of the items of the right column; try it!! It is really cool. I think that this feature specially fits at CP too .. I prefer to have the news sub column to appear directly below the lounge and collapsing the rest. So, why don't you Chris continue your innovations at CP and implement this cool feature too? :suss: // Rafik

Moveable boxes would be cool. Anyone care to take a peek, see how they did it, and write up an article? cheers, Chris Maunder

Don't shoot me down in flames for this post, it is not a constructive one. (at least you are warned) Firstly those moveable toolbox thingies on MSDN do not "remember" their position from visit to visit. That reduces their use big time. Of course it would be easy to implement some kind of cookie memory. I reckon they will eventually as they speak about adding personalisation to the site in the near future. Lets hope so. Secondly, I do not think they are SUCH a great help. The minimise bit is helpful as then you can display the ones you want and hide the ones you do not want, but the moving bit is really verging on a gimmick. As far as I know they are simply dragable DIV's with some code in the background which detects whether they are on top of another DIV and moves accordingly. We have all probably done that in VB (or C++ if that does your nut better than wonderful VB). Also I wonder if it is cross browser? Does it work in Netscape? After all that: *If* I have spare cycles I will look into how they did it and give a brief tut. Till then lets hope we spend more time on stabilisation and truly useful features, no? regards, Paul Watson Cape Town, South Africa e: paulmwatson@email.com w: vergen.org
