Did the theatre have DTS? When I lived in California most theatres were equiped with DTS. In VA that is impossible to find. And since I know how good a DTS equiped theatres sound I hate seeing cool movies in regular theatres. Sigh!!!!!

I was a little disappointed. It did not follow the book as closely as the first movie did. A LOT of what happened in the movie was fabricated..and that kinda took away from my overall enjoyment. -dork ps: also annoying : too many damn closeups! Back the camera up, Peter!

Ugh. From what I've seen of the previews, it butchers the book. I was really disgusted with "The Fellowship Of The Ring". It completely mutilated the characters, the mood that Tolkien slowly builds, everything. Special effects be damned. Just my opinion though. Marc Help! So you have to be lucky and make of course make sure that when you buy your tickets its for that screening. Somehow even the new theatres do not have it. :-(

FOTR had the beginning, and ROTK has the end. Two Towers simply has some cool battles etc... but little in the way of developing story.
We brought out this new and very similar version of our expensive software because the old version was......old....It's a good enough excuse for Microsoft so its fine for us.

To have reproduced The Fellowship as closely as possible, it would have turned into a 5-6 hour film that only the most die hard fans (me included) would sit through. Yeah, there was something I didn't like, I missed the Barrow Downs and the stay at Farmer Maggots and Tom Bombadil. And the Love story with Aragorn is an addition that could have been left out. But other than that, it was a good film. Much more faithful to the book than other movies have been. Jason Gerard "This almost never matters, except quite often."

But, the general storyline was almost dead on (except a few added love scenes that could really be implied from the book) and a few other small things. But overall, the movie followed the book very well. EVERYONE I have talked to who read the book believes that. The second book, however, just throws crazy stuff out there. Frodo and Sam in Osgoliath?? HUH!? That never happened! Man, you are on crack. You should go read the series again...or stick to illustrated kids books.... -dork

I do think that they left out some of the cooler things in the bool like Tom Bombadil, and they took a few liberties in adding in a non-existent love story between Strider and the Elf that Liv Tyler plays. Other than that I was very impressed.

I guess Peter Jackson is trying to make it appeal to a lot more audience and so he added the love story element, which I wasn't that keen on watching. So even though it wasn't pure Tolkein, it was surely not disapointing, I think I loved it, The audience were clapping :-D when Legolas swinged beautifully on the horse during ambush of warg riding orcs. biz stuff about meI think the problem with converting an epic novel like this one is that Tolkien created a world and an entire history for this world. I think that they tried to pick out all of the important stuff in order to make the story work as a whole and they left out the stuff that was not crucial. You are right there was a lot that had happened on the way to the prancing pony. Tom Bombadil was my favorite part of the book besides the Battle in the mines. lauren wrote: like glorfindel being a chik Were you a little upset that they made Glorfindel a chik? What it seemed to me was that they wanted to tell the story about one of those epic poems that the hobbits would always tell where the lady elf fell in love with the human. And that was happening between Liv Tyler and Vigo Mortenson. That is my guess as to where that came from.
