It's even odder when you yourself have passed 27... You wonder how life could have treathed them so bad... (for those who weren't murdered or had an accident)

I think perhaps that you have not reached a point of experience/confidence/wisdom by 27, so all that success is not within your capabilities of handling it. By 35 you are cool enough to deal with it.

I can still die at 27. Does anyone know how to ask wolfram alpha to calculate the chance of that happening? (ie, based on life expectancy, the chance of dying while exactly 27 years old)

She didn't reach anything like the status of the musicians listed there, (although I did only briefly check). Her music, while interesting wasn't particularly great and, having seen her live myself, I really wouldn't rate her in the way the media seem to be. The fact she has died is sad, but far less sad and tragic that the events in Norway so why this story is getting the coverage it is beggars belief IMHO.

Because she is a 'Celeb'. Although to be fair she is really only famous for being a druggie and drink case who once sung a song that was popular for a while.

People want to read about someone they have heard of, not lots of people they haven't. They want to read about someone who was the architect of their own demise rather than innocent victims who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. They want to judge rather than fear. There are many reasons why people are more keen to discuss the early death of a celebrity than the faceless, nameless demise of large numbers of people in a far off land. The only thing that surprises me is that each time another celeb goes people still protest their surprise at the coverage.

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

What surprises me is that, given how she lived and the manner of her death, there were very small children putting flowers outside her home? These children were very young, 3 or 4, they have no concept of death or who the drugged addled horse was, but the parents are parading them in front of television cameras to perform a pointless act. Kind of weird and slightly creepy.

The comment on Norway wasn't in any way directed at your good self but at the British media in general who seem to be giving an OCD amount of time to one person who it seems likely died by their own handa and entirely expectedly if the truth be known. I'm sure the family of Amy Winehouse will be terribly saddened but this generally reported 'outpouring of grief' is sickeningly strange.

And that club is only the famous ones there are many not so famous also. Example of one I knew personally, Candy Givens of Zephyr died in a jacuzzi as a result of alcohol and Quaaludes.

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Who cares? the passing of another weak-willed drug addict, even one with a modicum of talent, is not worth thinking about.

Apparently there are people leaving cigarettes and alcohol outside her house as a shrine. Now that is weird. And stupid.

Absolutely. They should be leaving hard drugs. ;)
