Some of Nokia's products may be shite (which applies to any manufacturer anyways), but many of their phones are very good. I've tried all kinds of "smart" phones, and I always end up coming back to a basic candy bar style phone (usually a Nokia). I currently am using a 7310[^], and it's been something like 3 days since I charged it fully, and I can go for at least a day or two more with the charge left in it. It can make calls, receive calls, send and receive SMS. It can take some serious abuse, and has excellent reception and voice clarity. And that's all I expect from a phone.

It's down to opinion, I don't like using them, there was a reason why but I can't remember what it was. I agree, I prefer the old school phones rather than the Smart ones, but I am more inclined to go for Sony Ericson or a Samsung.

I've had a couple Nokia's, one running symbian. I was never impressed much with the quality of the phones. For a phones quality I've had I'd put Motorola first, followed by Samsung, with Nokia trailing the pack.

Most Samsung phones are practical jokes (may be except for the android ones, but android has its own problems), and I won't ever buy anything from sony. Sony creates worthless, overpriced, stupid trash. They're shiny though.

Only 5 days between charges, that's rather crappy. My then 5.6 year old flip phone lasted 12 or 13 days last December before the battery finally hit zero.

There phones are shite, I have always hated them. They made a popular one back in about 2002 (7710 or something) and then they didn't shift from that basic design for thenext 10 years.

My first was a Nokia 5185i (or very similar). Tough as nails. Dropped it often but never damaged it.

A few years back I had shared a similar opinion on Nokia on a regional product review website. Here is the URL which might explain why they are slowly but steadily started to embrace the bitter fruits of imminent irreversible failure: http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Nokia-5800-XpressMusic-review-snuprpltrm[^]

I don't know about their newer phones but I've been using a N95 8gb for 3 years or so now. I'm pretty satisfied with it still.

I still use my 3120[^] that I bought in October 2004. Awesome phone. The music Xpress I bought in 2009 was rubbish though. Gave it to my brother because his got stolen at college and the Nazis at work banned camera cell phones.

ahhh nokia, Nokia's audience is not what they want it to be, in my opinion that is. Personally I love Nokias sturdy reliable not filled with gadgets that I don't ever use or any of our providers can provide. as to why Nokia is going down, is because I believe they are focusing on sturdiness and reliability rather than innovation and system overhaul which is usually extremely risky. to my opinion that is
