I'm sure we've had this discussion on here before. I don't, but I rarely need to add more than a couple of numbers anymore. If I did then I would try to track one down to use. ie go to the accounts department and steal one. I still have a calculator that my gran bought me when I was at Primary school, probably not far off 30 years ago. It still works, is on its original battery and takes up to a minute to perform the simplest of calculations. My alarm clock radio is also the one I was given for my 8th birthday, and still keeps time perfectly well, although I have not tried using the alarm or the radio for many, many years.

Abacus we like them. :) Still use my TI-34. My original (bought back in '82) I literally wore the buttons off.

It was broke, so I fixed it.

Does anybody still use them? I do, I have one of These[^] that I use most days. I am sitting in front of a computer all day, but sometimes just reach for this as it is easier than switching apps, plus I can type faster. Who else? (Btw this calc is 13 years old. Original Battery, Never gone wrong and cost £5)

usually everyday offshore (quick checking forecasts and production numbers for the day) And at home still prefer a calculator in my hand than using windows calc, saves switching apps and alot easier! BUT, when the kids have disappeared with them i am sometimes forced to use the windows calc or one on my phone if it is to hand. I have a TI-82[^] and aTI-84 (Silver Edition!)[^], damned if i can use them properly though, and the usual bunch of cheapo basic calculators.

I think it is excellent. It is made by the Dr Who team when they are not making Dr Who. I think Cumberbatch (Holmes) would make an excellent Dr Who.

I've seen the first 2 episodes of the last series via LoveFilm discs. But the dog got to the packet containing the final episode and did for it.... So I've either got to rent it again or stream it... But found it very good indeed.

I had to show my son how to use one of them, and he just didn't 'get' it. He found it funny that you had to remember the orders of magnitude as you went along. Kids today huh! I had an old physics professor who used the line "Don't worry, the calculations are easy, you will not need to dunk your slide rules in a bucket of water to cool them down". :)

No that was "The curious incident of a large white German Shepherd and the antagonising postman waving the package through the letter box while the missus was out", not such a catchy title and now we have a post-box on the front of the house.... The former is an excellent book and can recommend "A spot of bother" too.....

Sounds like my old phys chem professor teaching trying to teach us statistical mechanics - he then told us not to worry as wouldn't be in any exam ever as at the time only about 6 people world-wide understood it and 5 of them were liars
