OK, who's using Netscape Navigator? C'mon, own up. Just looking through our monthly stats and it was a blast from the past to see NN pop up on the list of browsers being used. 1 spot lower than Blackberry, but higher than OmniWeb.

At my work, lot of Oracle ERP guys are still using NN, it is the best supported browser for Oracle Apps unless you want to use IE 5.5/6. :) But it wasnt me... trust me. I am IE 9 user.

The first step is admitting you have a problem :)

We were trying to locate some source code for a Xilinx programmable device that was created ~1998 the other day. One of the machines we fired up had IE4 on it (Win95) - but it was not connected to the net. I do have the NS7.2 setup executable (2004) on my machine but never ran it.

I know a semi-government company in India was using it in 2005. I don't think so that they would have changed the browser. :)

Ah Netscape, between 1993-97 I used Netscape Navigator on SunOS, HP-UX and then WinNT. Then I switched to IE. Didn't know there were usable version of it even now. Does anyone remember Netscape Messenger for POP email? There was also Netscape Communicator, don't remember what that was... Also used Mosaic for few month in 93 before discovering Netscape.

Now there are good memories. In fact I just spent a few minutes hunting down a version of Mosaic and, unfortunately, the version I found won't work in Win7 64bit :((

64-bit Windows won't run the original Windows programs before NT and Windows 95. That's why they give you a free version of XP Mode.

I used Netscape a lot at work in 2003 because it was the standard browser for Boeing. I remember talking with my manager about using XML, its advantages, and if I could develop a new app using it. I warned him that it would never work with Netscape and he said it was OK. (Later killed the project for other reasons.) Considering how fast Boeing moves in computers, I wonder, is it still the standard browser?
