When I first bought it it would snap after pressing the button and waiting about 2-3 seconds but after a while it started working intermittently. My son's phone takes good pictures, when we went camping he took pictures and they looked better than the ones I took with my Sanyo.

My Droid X actually takes fairly decent pictures. It's no DSLR, but it is not bad.

I needed a new phone. I do not use a smart phone. In fact I do not text or check email. So the salesman asked if I took pictures with my phone, I said yes and he suggested a phone. Worked well for me, until I wanted to test the picture transfer from phone to PC. Verizon wants me to upload my photos to their web site to download to my PC. I do not pay for "data time" and do not want to pay close to $2 a mb to use their system (not to mention the per minute charge). Thus I am taking the phone back tomorrow. If a new battery for my old phone did not cost more than a new phone I would just get a battery.

I am wondering why you are blaiming the phone company and their 'evil ways' then. They did not trick you into buying the phone. You were asked if you want to take pictures and they provided that phone. As someone who is in a tech field (I assume you are because you are here on CP), you should understand that those pictures do not just magically appear on your computer. So, you who has the no data plan and decided to go with a basic phone (that has a camera) is now having issues with not getting the pictures off the phone at a 'good rate' Now if you were my grandma or someone that is not so up to date in the tech world one could sympothize, but it is still your fault. Ignorance does not mean that the one who sold you it is at fault. If you buy a car that gets 5mpg and has a tank of that holds 1 gallon its not the salesman's fault you can't make it to work on a full tank of gas, its yours for not understanding what you purchased does not meet your needs. Now if you said to the salesmen "I need a cheap, easy, and quick way to get the pics off the phone onto my PC", and he replied with something that is not true it is their 'evil' fault.

Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet.

That's a bit harsh. I don't think it is too much to expect to be able to transfer pictures from your phone to your PC via a USB cable. That's how it used to be done, and there is no reason that it shouldn't still work like that. Yes, wireless transfer is nice and all, but it shouldn't be the only option.

I have certainly seen phones that use bluetooth or usb. But if a phone does not provide either but does it via the data service then that is nothing but a marketing ploy on the part of the vendor. Especially if they sell the phone without the service. And perhaps the sales person. Since although there are probably some people that only have pictures on their phones there are probably others that want to move them. So selling a phone/service to someone which which requires an additional fee based on a service that the sales person specifically asked about suggests ignorance or deceit.

Or email it. X| That's one of the reasons I continue to use a non-camera phone. I also turn off texting. All I want is a phone.

I don't own a cell phone anymore because of the ridiculous/outrageous pricing. I was paying almost $90/mo. for a phone that all I did was take and receive calls. Tried using the camera and it was a POS. I payed $350 for this phone, a HTC Diamond and I absolutely hated it, and the service was even worse...Sprint.

I have a similar phone, got the minimum contract and my normal bill is about $20, if I roam or use that data it skyrockets but that almost never happens! You must be on a really shitty contract.

We used prepaid for a number of years, now a minimum contract got me a smart phone which makes an excellent reader, which means the blasted phone does not get left at home anymore.

Personally I do not go into a store with a check list. I went in for a problem as the phone was not ringing for calls but would notify me of voice mail.

If I could get a decent plan I would sign up but haven't found one yet.

If you never travel outside of Sprint's main network coverage area Virgin[^] offers smartphone plans with unlimited data starting a $35/mo. The catch is that because they don't have any roaming agreements with Verizon or other small CDMA carriers once you get out of cities their coverage is rather sparse.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius
