      Amazing indeed. Their territory and mine overlap - there are several living within a few hundred metres of here. The male's mating dance display is awesome. I've only seen that once, but I often see (and more often hear) lyrebirds when I'm out and about (away from the highway). The funniest one was seeing a group of about 20 tourists dive into pockets and handbags when one [edit: a lyrebird, that is /] played the default Nokia ringtone. Cheers, Peter

        The mockingbird comes close to that. It lives closer to people than the one presented in this video, and as well as wolf howls, dog & cat imitations, it also does lawn mowers, weed eaters and other domesticated machinery. The mockingbird[^] is the state bird of Texas, and is quite common.
