Im creating a new project on sourceforge to remove java - a cross implementation version - IBM, SUN, MSFT, it doesnt matter this tool will get rid of that pesky court ordered:mad: Java safely. Look for Java2Trash in a few days. They have to approve the project first. With IBM running show on backend over there, I doubt it will make it through. Cheers

By your standards, then you shouldn't be talking about a war with Iraq because if you're not in the military, it won't affect you. And as someone who fought in the last Gulf War and lost 2 friends over there, I got every damn right to say whatever I want to.

Terry Denham wrote: What the hell does that matter? Quite a bit, actually - if you're using Java. If not, then this specific ruling has nothing to do with anything you or I are likely to do, programming-wise. If you're targeting only Windows platforms, and could give a whit about cross-platform compatability, then it has even less relevance. But if you read the ruling, this is an injunction to get Microsoft uphold their orignal agreement they signed with Sun while the rest of the lawsuit goes forward. The judge felt there was enough merit to give life to the issue that Sun felt Microsoft deliberatly sabatoged the Java specification in order to promote their own product. In the end, it boils down to a licensing agreement between Microsoft and Sun.

And if Sun signed a license agreement to provide .NET-compatable services, then yes, they should. Otherwise, it's up to them (Sun) to do so. Or more likely, Sun's customers that want/need .NET and/or C# on SunOS to get Sun to provide it.

You are comparing loosing people in a war to putting Sun Java in the Windows OS. :~ Personally, I think the judge ruling in favor of Sun in this matter is great. Pankaj Without struggle, there is no progress

Did MS agree to ship Java? Yes. Did Sun agree to ship .Net? No. MS should show some integrity and honour their agreement. Davy Weblog, Ramblings and more... www.latedecember.com

Here's how the timeline went. MS licenses Java from Sun. MS extends the MS JVM to allow Java applications to do more directly with the Win32 API (J++)(Java WFC) Sun sues MS and wins in having MS loose it's license of Java. MS pulls Java from Windows XP Sun sues MS to now force MS to ship Java with Windows after winning a case to have MS remove its JVM from Windows. This is why I disagree with the ruling. It's exactly what Sun wanted, MS to remove it's JVM, which they are doing. This is just Sun being a big "cry baby". And remember, this has to do with Java and not JavaScript so all this talk out there about it breaking the internet is bunk. JavaScript is not Java and the only Java application that I have ever used over the internet is eTrade's Streamer, everything else out there is either JavaScript or Flash and if I have to download a java application, I can just as easily download the Java runtime from Sun if I need to run a Java application.
