Recently I worked my butt off developing this product for my company. The data itself was very detailed and intricate. Now that this project is more or less complete. I find myself being nit picky about certain things and find myself being slightly impatient. Do you guys ever feel this way? I am happy that today is Friday and I will get to have some R and R this weekend. It was a project well done and got nods from the big wigs of the company.:)

I'm never fully satisfied with anything I make, I always think there's more that could be improved, no matter how much praise I get for it. But I guess that helps produce a good product.

You need to be slightly anal to do a good job. It is often little things that let down otherwise good products. If you go to a site and find the navigation is poor, you won't hang around.

That happens to Mrs. Boss periodically. I just go and hide.

That's exactly why we have a rule in my industry that reminds everyone, "There comes a time in the life of every project when it is necessary to shoot the engineers and move to Production."

Always... My software is never good enough... I grumble when a screen takes more than 50ms to load, or when a field doesn't default to the value I was planning to enter. People tell me I'm a perfectionist, but I just don't see it :-D

Hi, Congratulations on your achievement ! Yes, I think it's only natural to have a sense of 'ownership,' even a sense of being a kind of 'parent' to something you've sweated over, and struggled with. And in intense teamwork to have a strong sense of membership in the team, and to react when the team is changed, or finished with its task. And natural, also, to go through some different feeling-states, when what was 'your baby' is no longer in your 'control.' In my experience, there was one company I worked at where the management had a good sense of the need for 'ritual' (and I don't mean in any 'religious' sense) when certain milestones were met. They'd have a party, bring in lots of good food, invite the team members that had finished the 'golden master' to say some words. best, Bill
