I found this on the web this morning, and if it didn't sound plausible, I wouldn't post it here. Not really. Any professional politician would be likely to do the same. (And our current president is just that; he has no other skills to fall back on.) I could very easily see OBL's death being hidden by all sides. Them, to keep their organization running smoothly. Us, because of the fallout from pissed off yahoos. As far as that goes, we were between iraq and a hard place regarding him. Kill him and piss folks off. Capture him, and piss folks off + the showbiz of a trial and all the extraneous crap that would cause. Better that he just "not be around" with nobody outside knowing the truth. Making a big show of "killing" him was a political move, serving only one purpose. Or an attempt at one, at any rate.

If it wasn't a plausible notion, I certainly wouldn't have wasted everyone's time. I thought the person made some good points, especially about the secure nature and typical past official disavowing of covert operations. Unit participation and info regarding intended targets - even at the most basic level of combat - is supposed to be classified information. This stuff HAD to be leaked on purpose. Someone (or a group of someones) gave the Taliban otherwise classified info, and should be sought out and put in front of a firing squad for doing so. That chopper was a gift to the musloids, direct from the Administration.

As footnote, I am also a deep admirer of both the American Constitution, and the Founding Fathers. I started to read the post with an open mind, and frankly, not only do I like a good conspiracy theory, I also believe that most, if not all, governments will enter any undertaking that they think they can get away with. I was enjoying the whole thing until I reached the “Marxist-Leninist psychopaths” bit, whereupon I started to get a little suspicious, so I looked up the author, of whom I had heard little in the past. She would appear to have an agenda. When I was serving, there was an absolutely golden rule in my area of expertise – always evaluate intelligence in the light of its source, and so I went back and started to reread the article, looking for some good triple-A data. Regrettably, I found none – in fact, the whole thing foundered in the initial premise that Bin Laden was already dead from renal failure. Bluntly, the suggestion that, out of his tens of thousands of fanatic followers, no one would give him a kidney – or even two, in the light of their apparent urge to become martyrs to the cause - patently ludicrous. Without this corner stone, the rest of the edifice would appear to collapse. It is also worth noting that the sentence “Bin Laden had a genetic condition that caused renal failure (this genetic condition is common among deeply inbred Saudi Arab Muslims)” is first of all conjecture, but most importantly, irrelevant, as Osama Bin Laden’s mother was Syrian, with no chance of inbreeding. I enjoyed reading the article, and actually found it almost plausible, until it moved into political hysteria at the end. I would also like to add that I have read an American novel with a plot very similar to the one presented here. Finally, having been shot at in anger, and fortunately (at least from my point of view) been missed, I can do no other than quote Oliver Cromwell, as reported by Valentine Blacker in 1856, "Put your trust in god(*), my boys, and keep your powder dry!" (*) I strongly suggest your personal pantheon includes such deities as “Remington Arms Co”, “Smith and Wesson Holding Corporation”, “Colt’s Manufacturing Co”, and similar divine entities.

But plausibility goes so well with a psychotic rant, that you rarely see the two standing alone. :) The evidence of FEMA camps (completely fenced with inward facing barbed wire) and practice for marshal law by the armed forces (and not just the Guard) is simply too coincidental. Just because it seems ridiculous doesn't mean you should keep a steady eye on your six...

It is also worth noting that the sentence “Bin Laden had a genetic condition that caused renal failure (this genetic condition is common among deeply inbred Saudi Arab Muslims)” is first of all conjecture, but most importantly, irrelevant, as Osama Bin Laden’s mother was Syrian, with no chance of inbreeding. I enjoyed reading the article, and actually found it almost plausible, until it moved into political hysteria at the end. I would also like to add that I have read an American novel with a plot very similar to the one presented here. Finally, having been shot at in anger, and fortunately (at least from my point of view) been missed, I can do no other than quote Oliver Cromwell, as reported by Valentine Blacker in 1856, "Put your trust in god(*), my boys, and keep your powder dry!" (*) I strongly suggest your personal pantheon includes such deities as “Remington Arms Co”, “Smith and Wesson Holding Corporation”, “Colt’s Manufacturing Co”, and similar divine entities.

Good enough. Have you evaluated the evidence for Osama's death going down the way it was reported (any of the varying reports put out by the White House until the found one they liked?) Perhaps John is overreacting, perhaps not. But there is no reason particularly to believe the Obama is telling us the truth - even though it would have been quite easy for him to have provided incontrovertible proof instead of making up a Muslim burial at sea ceremony. As John has already noted in his response, the FEMA camps do exist. It's equally true that we have in Napolitano someone who is far more concerned with demobilized veterans rising up than with groups like the Black Muslims, La Raza, or the folks planning on Days of rage at Wall Street and Broad. Why would someone assume that men and women who have put their lives on the line be the biggest threat to her version of law and order?
