The DHS is a frightening agency that was slapped together to make it look like the government was doing SOMETHING to make sure a tragedy like 9/11 could never happen again. Of course, that is virtually impossible to accomplish, given the many different ways people who don't care about their own lives can wreak havoc.

With the exception of gas masks, aren't those all things you'd bring on a hunting trip? Maybe even the gas masks depending on who you go with and how many cans of beans they bring. Though I do have to ask, is this an actual bulletin put out by the FBI or did someone make it up? It would be a lot easier to fake than a birth certificate. ;P

The FBI has been handing out bulletins to Surplus Stores and Gun Shops. These bulletins, released by the Denver FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, Colorado Information Analysis Center (Homeland Security), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (part of the Department of Justice), considers the following to be suspicious behavior that may be terrorist activity: _People or Groups Who:
- Provide identification that is inconsistent or suspect or demands identity "privacy"
- Insists on paying with cash or uses credits cards(s) in different name(s)
- Significantly alters appearance from visit to visit (shaving beard, changing hair color, style of dress, ect)
- Have missing hand/fingers, chemical burns, strange odors or bright colored stains on clothing
- Make racist or extreme religious statements couple with comments that are violent or appear to condone violence
- Make suspicious comments regarding anti-US, radical theology vague or cryptic warnings that suggest or appear to endorse the use of violence in support of a cause.
- Demonstrate interest in uses that do not seem consistent with the intended use of the item being purchased
- Possess little knowledge of intended purchase items
- Make bulk purchases of items to include:
- Weatherproofed ammunition or match containers
- Meals Ready to Eat
- Night Vision Devices
- Night flashlights
- Gas masks
- High capacity magazines
- Bi-pods or tri-pods for rifles
_The FBI then reminds the Surplus Store in their catch-all "don't be racist" clause: It is important to remember that just because someone's speech, actions, beliefs, appearance, or way of life is different; it does not mean that he or she is suspicious. For anyone paranoid about their government, this document is perfect evidence of the fatuity of the Federal Government in protecting and oppressing citizens. The letter has suggestions for Surplus Store owners to, you know, help America detect terrorists: _Be a part of the solution:
- Require valid ID for all new customers
- Keep records of purchases
- Talk to customers, ask questions, and listen to and observe their response.
- Watch for people and actions that are out of place.
- Make note of suspicious statements, people, and/or vehicles.
- If something is wrong, notify law enforcement authorities.

Day flashlights differ from Night flashlights in that the former do not require or ever run out of batteries. It happens to the latter more frequently. :)

Have you ever tried to shoot a running white tail deer? I'll take all the ammo I can get for that. :laugh: But yeah, there are generally rules about how many rounds you can have in a gun while hunting.

Define terrorist, last time I added up the numbers your average terrorist was a citizen of at least the country attacked, if not the general vicinity. With the largest exception here being the wads who launch unguided projectiles over the border into Israel, and then of course the return fire. But that might count as a war if either country acknowledged the existence of the other. That said, your average terrorist that DHS is concerned with is an idiot. They likely live near what they're going to attack, and they likely know squat about what they're actually doing. Though none of this explains the MREs. But we are talking about an agency created because agencies weren't communicating together. There's only so much logic you can expect.
