Creative Coasters?

Chaps, I've collected heaps of CD coasters over the years (no doubt many of you will have, too). Before I throw them out, I'd like to ask: has anyone come up with a creative use for CD coasters? (other than a coaster, that is) Anything...some new age artwork, decoration in your office, other innovative uses? Let's hear it, 'cos I'd like to put my dead CDs to good use! -Shanker. This one guy I used to work with decorated his prisoncube walls with CDs. I forget exactly how he did it, but basically he bent a paper clip over the top of the cube wall to hold the topmost CD, then stuck another paper clip in the center hole and hung CD #2 on it, then another paper clip in the hole of that CD, and so on. --Mike-- http://home.inreach.com/mdunn/ #include "buffy_sig"

I have a table with a glass top. What I did is lift the glass and put all the CD's under it, with the silver part facing upwards. Now I have a CD/Mirror Table! (2b || !2b)

My Dad has used all those AOL and Compuserve disks that you get bombarded with as bird scarers. I've also seen them used as Christmas decoration, clock faces and microwave oven destroyers :)

Well, they scare the hell out of me.... My daughter plays with all my coasters/AOL CD's. Christian #include "std_disclaimer.h" People who love sausage and respect the law should never watch either one being made. The things that come to those who wait are usually the things left by those who got there first.

I don't have the link, but I remember, I think on Slashdot a year or so back, there was a story linking to a site about a car that had been covered in full and cut up CDs, so that it looked like a rainbow as the light refracted of the silver side of the CDs. Looked weird. There was some doubt as to whether the police would deem the vehicle unsafe because it may blind other road users. In the US somewhere I think. Stick them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. It's so cool! <insert standard disclaimer about how dangerous and stupid this is and how it will destroy your microwave and make all your hair fall out etc etc> cheers, Chris Maunder

I've got a few suggestions: - Mini dart board. 1 point for each piece broken off. - BB gun targets - CD wars (I have a scar on my scalp from a CD fight about a year ago. If you have sprinklers in your yard, you can place the coaster over the riser, but underneath the sprinkler head. The spread of the CD-ROM would prevent the grass from growing too close to the sprinkler head. You probably need to enlarge the CD-ROM hole, though, to fit over the riser. If the CD-ROM is placed with the silver side up, and the sun is shining while the sprinkler is spraying, you might get a neato rainbow effect from each sprinkler out in your yard. Could be kind of cool :eek: C++/MFC/InstallShield since 1993
