I have been on a diet for about two months now. I lost two kilos (4.4 pounds) last month! I feel so proud I am even considering to start working out, just a little to boost the process :D Ever since I got a 9 to 5 job at the office (and stopped my newspaper round) I have been gaining weight faster than you can say "You must lose weight because you're a fat bastard". About a kilo (2.2 pounds) per month for over half a year! :wtf: But the time has come where I said "no more!" and last weekend I finally saw the results of my hard work (which involves not eating a lot of pie, snacks, popcorn, etc.) :D This asks for a celebration! Who wants pie!? ;p

    It's an OO world.

I've also changed my diet as I want to get in shape but I'm on the other side of the scale, I'm trying to put on weight and I actually gained 2 kilos last month. Started to get up earlier and go for a run (almost) every day, it's been quite invigorating.

Well Done to You! I went the other way, put on 1/2 stone during my first week offshore, but lost it all again during my first week home. :)

I'm with you, I was losing a pound per week for 10 weeks, but recently plateaued. At first it was diet only, now I'm going to start my workout regime, too.

I started the the way around - started more working out first. The only dietary concession so far is trying to cut out refined sugar and reduce fat a bit. I was hoping the 12 hours of excercise I did at the weekend would boost the weight loss a bit, but haven't seen any benefit yet....

Round is a shape, no? Seriously, since having major surgery 3 years ago, and losing 32 lbs in a week's time, I've gained nearly all of what I lost back again. But instead of residing in my arms and shoulders where it used to be, it's now taken up residence in my belly. I'm not liking this one little bit... :sigh:

Congrats. My suggestion is that when you plateau in your exercise routine, increase intensity and add strength training instead of exercising longer. A high intensity workout will increase your metabolism for up to 36 hours afterwards. You will loose weight faster, gain more muscle and spend a lot less time in the gym than someone that does low intensity "cardio". Your body stops burning extra calories from low intensity work as soon as you stop the exercise.

Besides that, muscle tissue burns more calories all the time, extending the benefits of strength training.

I don't think I'll ever go to a gym. Of places I never want to go I guess jail is on top and gym comes right after that (and only because jail takes longer to come out)... :~ We have some stuff at home that I can use though. Weights, etc. :)

I feel your pain. Actually I might even be a lightweight considering my age and length. However ALL of that weight is in my belly, making me unable to see my feet when I'm in the shower (so to speak) :( If I want a tight belly I should weight somewhere around 60 kilo's (132 lbs), which is actually absurdly light for a man of 1.80 meter! I might get some muscles and weigh a bit more and still having a tight belly, and chicks love that too

Actually I believe a good diet consists of knowing you should sin, once in a while. (not too much though, but that's called discipline)

Me. I'm trying hard to reach the 200 lb mark, but it's being tougher than I thought it would be. But hey, only muscular mass, please. :)

Actually I believe a good diet consists of knowing you should sin, once in a while. (not too much though, but that's called discipline)

Who wants pie!? ;p

Congrats on the weight loss. I have been on a low carb, very low sugar diet and I have lost 10 pounds already. I also eat five times a day. Three main meals and two in between snacks. Everyone has a formula to sustained weight loss but stick to the one that works for you.
