best LCD monitor for coding

I'm getting lots of recommendations for the Iiyama 4637. Tom's hardware had given a nice review to another Iiyama LCD monitor, so this is the one I'm leaning towards. I was hoping to get into the 20"-1600x1200 range because I'm programming in 1280x1024 on my CRT right now and I would love the extra desktop space. Can any of you other programmers make recommendations? I'm also a gamer, so good response times are important as well. -John

If your developing graphics applications, you want to stay with a high end CRT.
nah. i develop those things all day long and i love my LCD - it's much easier on the eyes. sure, the colors bunch up sometimes (ie. it looks like it can only handle 64K colors at 24-bits), but for developing, that's not an issue. for actually using graphics apps, you probably want a CRT. -c

I have to good monitors one CRT 17" and the one in my laptop 15" locked on 1600. For gaming my CRT is the best and for coding to but my laptop is preaty good for both graphics and coding I think! The problem with LCD is the view angle some have very small angle and some have wide I would go with the wide :-). /Jarek He believed the commercials that said drink beer, get laid but at closin' time he was alone, he didn't get paid. The amount of time spent playing games with this monitor will pale in comparison with the amount of time I will spend coding with this monitor. I ordered the Iiyama ProLite 4637 based on two very strong recommendations from two people I know that have discriminating eyes. One said the 4637 was the nicest monitor he's ever seen, including CRTs. I'll let you all know what I think when I get it.
