I only know that I want one of these: Hover-bike[^] Or should I say what i really mean? I want one of those when version 3 without bugs and stability issues are finished. ;)
Under "Hoverbike Applications" he missed "Plunging to a screaming death in front of your admiring drinking buddies".

At around £30,000 I'm with you. Alas I think someone might veto me. :^)

Hey, we have proof on FILM that hoverboards worked back in 1989... Or at least, that they'd work by 2015. I SAW IT.

I think sideways balance, and to a small degree even forward and backward balance, would be significantly more problematic than on a normal bike.

But they don't work on water unless you got POWER!

Pitch (forward and back) could be controlled by adjusting the speed of the fans. Want the front end to go up? More front end fan speed, less rear. The roll (side to side) would be completely up to you right now. The fans blades are fixed pitch and unable to twist in relation to the bike. They also aren't much higher up than the center of gravity, if thy are above it at all with a rider on the bike. That means you'd likely roll upside down before you got enough altitude to kill yourself which I guess is a good thing. To fix it they need to 1 or more of the following: Use helicopter style blades that can change their pitch as they spin so they can produce more lift on one side or the other. Add a third fan and set them up in a triangle so that you could use the two side by side fans to control roll Move the fans further above the center of gravity. The greater the distance above the center of gravity the center of lift is the more stable. Even then you would see me on one of these unless it was chained to the ground...

I strongly suspect that it will suffer from the same defects as the 'personal' hovercraft. Namely steering and braking. The rule for hovercraft is "If you can see a possible obstacle, you're too late. You've already hit it."
