Jimmys Brain Fart

Somehow I doubt his profile was removed and then restored due to any 'noise'. I'm more inclined to believe a temporary bug in the profile retrieval mechanism that simply made his profile unavailable.

Do you want to borrow my tin foil hat, after posting a brain fart thread, being told by Richard that he had been reported as a troll, his profile mysteriously disappears b/c of a bug, yeah right.

I tried with a brand new login (the kitten has shown an interest in computers - indeed, he can find the "delete" key very easily), and couldn't see the "Report" button. When I just tried it with the late Bill The Cat, he could - and he is pretty low rep, come to that. Perhaps a higher minimum rep is needed?

My point was rather that it is not that difficult to get a high reputation even if you are an idiot (I hope that's not me). Reputation points are gained by quantity as much as quality so a few d'heads will always slip through.

That would indeed be in bad taste. Fortunately, I am difficult to offend, and have a very bad-taste sense of humour! :-D

I'll admit my guilty secret: I love Irishmen just as much as I love Welshmen; or any other ethnicity/nationality.

Bill[^] got his own account for a joke. But then his rep started rising, and I was interested to see how high I could get it without actually cheating. If nothing else, the slap-down for Q&A idiots "My cat has a higher rep than you!" and being able to prove it was irresistible! Since the kitten is showing a lot of interest in the computer, I thought he will probably need an account soon... :sigh:

I'm sorry about this, but... he does have a higher rep than you! Or would, was he still alive...

What the bloody hell happened there, the guy seems to have had a Sunday brain fart and his profile is removed, c'mon people trashing his message is reasonable, slapping him with a few one votes is justified but removing his profile, he has been around a long time and contributes positively to both the forums and here in the Lounge and you trash him for a single thread! I begin to despair at the, yeah it feels right, the PC attitude that is creeping into CP.

I read that thread, and while I don't have a specific opinion to it, I think that the banishment was because he abused everyone who was rather politely pointing out that he was going against the site rules in a very patronising manner. Some of his replies included stuff like "haha, you couldn't banish me" and so on. And funnily enough, he got slapped away. I'm not wanting a regular to be banned off the community for something small as this, but hopefully he learned his lesson.

I begin to despair at the, yeah it feels right, the PC attitude that is creeping into CP.I've been a member now for going on 9 years and I've seen a lot of people come and go, of their own accord or not but I don't think I've ever seen something as moronic as what happened to Jimmy. To call the man a troll was totally unjustified he was wrong and should have been downvoted and chastised but to remove his profile. Sad day here at CP! It's not like some other members here don't get a few adult beverages under there belts and make complete asses of themselves, are chastised, messages removed and life goes on. Has it become such a elitist club here that only a few can get away with the BS. The man made a mistake and knowing Jimmy I'd say there's a reason for his one off behavior. I for one say to reinstate him, if he even wants back on. At this point I don't blame him if he doesn't. Said my piece.

Please don't confuse PC with "considerate". The Lounge is the cornerstone of the community and the only thing I ask is that people treat this forum as a gathering of professionals who are probably at work, and who most definitely span a gammut of cultures. I am not, ever, going to simply say "The internet is a den of iniquity so get over it; the battle's lost". If it's too hard to just, in this one place, be considerate and polite, not just of others but of this site itself then this isn't the site for you.

Chris There is very little I would change about CP, and if I thought it important S&B would get an entry, I was really annoyed that a member of good standing was removed from the site for a single disasterous thread. Thank you for reinstating his account, lets hope the mind follows.

I understand. We have a list of who gets reported and we try to stay on top of it. This whole thing happening on a weekend threw us.
