Yes. It is full of morons and halfwits who 'like' things. I believe we should take a few steps backward from the inclusivity of modern operating systems where any cretin can access pictures and files and webpages. We need to go back to the actively user hostile days of DOS, turn on a computer and be presented with a blank screen and a happy wizard ( C:\> look at it sideways). Let's see how many of these people would make any kind of headway into the wonderful world of tech.

DOS? Too advanced. And no happy wizards, just you, an empty screen, LED displays and a hex keyboard.

Errhhhmmm, I do. :-O I didn't even have to use my imagination as I still clearly rembemer what those printers in the CS lab were capable of producing. I do admit that a 80 characters wide screen does not have enough real estate to show good ASCII images. Our lab printers though had a width capable of printing DIN A2 and that is more that sufficient for some good ol' artsy pictures. Cheers!

Hey, we already had advanced graphics. 64 x 32 pixels. Monochrome. That should be enough for anything. And don't forget that our little CPU already had a SEX instruction.

There is a vast difference between 'Social Networking' when you are actually in a social situation, and sitting in a bedroom in Birmingham, wearing just some underpants and eating Wotsits whilst expresing opinions of the world to any who wish to hear it. Plus there is the advantage of coming home for some slightly drunken sex with your other half. You don't get that in a Bedroom/Underpants/Wotsits environment!

How about sitting in an office in London, wearing a suit, whilst expresing opinions of the world to any who wish to hear it?

Eloquently put ! But, have we really excluded these possible confounding hypotheses: 1. the 'state of pie-eyed-ness' is a consequence of the broadcast-trivia behavior, rather than a cause ? 2. fundamental ... possibly multiple ... neurological factors, such as genetic heritage, hemisphere-specific brain damage, or environmental poisoning, may be a root factor.
