Well, I wasn't extolling its virtues! It's the only other 'American' cheese I have tasted.

But there's now: "Primula with Chives, Primula with Ham, Primula with Prawns; and, the latest addition to the range, Primula Light". What are you waiting for? Get stuck in!

Perhaps not. In those days, I had bought a house I couldn't afford - I had no furniture at all until I was given a beanbag for Christmas and my idea of a hot meal was a cheese and ham toasty...

Your point? BTW, If you don't like it, don't eat it. It's one of the last freedoms you have.

I like cheese well enough, I just question its over application. Actually Parmesan is a natural source of MSG and explains its usage as a general flavour enhancer in Italian cooking, along with anchovies.

Eric is trolling for Americans for it's dinner tonight. Don't feed into it and it should go away...kind of like a fart.

Serving traditional and typical food of its own country: US chain restaurant. Salads with loads of cheese, maincourses with loads of cheese, and sauce, sandwiches, with loads of cheese[^] UK chain restaurant. Pretty much the same as the US, but without so much cheese.[^] Dutch chain, also close to the US, lots of burgers, but no seafood. And no cheese everywhere[^] French chain, looks little better than motorway food (having tried it it doesnt taste much better either), but at least trhe cheese occupies its propper course[^] What is it with the US and cheese, theirs doesnt even taste nice! :)

I first noticed this thread on Friday, had a scan through, didn't follow the links. Seen it is still here over the weekend. Right now is the first time I have noticed the subject is 'Chain restaurants', and not as I had thought until now 'China restaurants'. No wonder I was confused.

You bought into the 'home-owning democracy' (aka 'wage slave' :) ) meme, then? Same here! No regrets, though. I would hate to have to begin my working and family life in this dog's dinner of an economy.

Yep. The company I worked for was very good about it though - they happily lied to the mortgage company, and inflated my alleged wage by 25% to help me get the loan. Hence the lack of furniture, food, and so on. Looking back on it, the only thing I regret is that I should have borrowed a air-bed that didn't have a slow puncture...

After one drunken night out a mate and myself were back at a friends house where we were stopping, they had a double airbed on the living room floor for us, and we took turns in working the foot pump to blow it up. I am not sure exactly how long we were trying to get it up (ooh er) by vigorous pumping (matron) until it was noticed that the stoppers we not in and we had just been pumping air straight through the thing. To be honest, the two of us should have known to sort out accommodation properly before drinking, when we were 16 we went on a cycling / camping holiday in Devon. Got to the field, went to the pub, got drunk, came back to the field and put the tent up. It was only when it rained and we got soaked that we realised we had put the tent up inside out.

You think I left it down the couch, or behind the fridge? If you mean was the house re-possessed by the mortgage company, then no - I lived there for twenty odd years.

:-D I remember a bunch of us went to a bike rally (the third Bulldog Bash I think) and we had 'Ston with us - he had decided to save money by not buying a fly sheet... Saturday night it tipped it down. Come Sunday morning we had the fun of watching 'Ston stagger from the tent and try to wring out his sleeping bag before he packed it to go home. The tent resembled a paddling pool more than anything and he never did get round to taking it down before he left.

I worked in manufacturing (chemicals, electronics, metal rolling, etc.), designing and implementing production control and supporting systems along with engineers and the shop floor (plus shop stewards). I would agree, far more macho than, say, insurance services. But autistic pansies! What sector are you working in? :)

Biggish company? Only SW houses I've worked for were smallish concerns, where the boss man's own money was at stake. Concentrates the mind. :)
