Ever deployed an App but had this happen?
-
Okey Ive just spent an age deploying a web app onto our Server and pushed it onto a test port just to "hide" it from the Live App Users.. (We basically want a live preview for Certain users).. Now its emerged that our Lovely Network Admin has blocked access to All ports but Port 80, because he did some Googling and discovered that HTTP only uses Port 80.. Yep No SSL No Custom Port How many people have encountered Network Techs that Literally do things like this????

I hate IT guys that think they can push their bad ideas onto everyone... Ours is trying to do that right now... with a company full of developers and engineers, he'll need luck...

It's called an enterprise for a reason. Learn to live with it. :-D

Bah, if it was a REAL Enterprise, you'd be able to bypass the firewall by rerouting phaser power through the primary EPS conduits, or the main deflector, or something like that :)
Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Every app I deploy at my current gig requires certification for the ports. To deploy I have to log into a firewall. It was really a pain because a lot of the third-party dll's I use are so poorly documented I had to port sniff just to see which ports to open. Usually, there is a process to allow ports, no?
Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

I just tell the big boss it works, but the server is broken. She some how always manages to find a way to get the network guys to do something. No more fighting for me now :)
Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.
