Only a sad and useless fool does this. The successful programmer knows how to switch off and kick back with friends and family.

You mean the social life of computer nerds. I am an engineer. Work is work, life is life, and I have plenty of time for my family and friends (and my hobbies). In fact in my experience computer nerds make the worst engineers. They are incapable of cutting corners to get a prodduct out the door.

Good shout Norm! My family time is so limited I have to make the most of it. This weekend I'll only really have Sunday with them so it is even more important to have a quality time.
