Computer Desk

I was sitting at me desk today thinking how I do not like the layout. There is a shelf on the top that takes away from my work area and the slot for my computer makes it difficult to work on. so I ask.... What would the perfect desk intail? Easy access to multiple systems? storage space? Please share you ideas. Darroll Never tell people how to do things. The one thing I can't stand are the so called computer stands. X| Those ones with the slide out tray for your keyboard. I've got a nice big desk with plenty of space between the edge of the desk and the monitor, which is on a small stand on its own. Also have a CD stand for my music CD's and software. Having a whiteboard and bookshelf no more than half a chair-slide away also helps. ;) Oh, yes, a fan also helps keep the temp. nice and regular (during summer). I'm just too paranoid to put a heater in the same room as my PCs. Hmmm. The ideal computer desk would:
- Place the monitor(s) at (or slightly below) eye level.
- Place the keyboard and mouse at a position to minimize the chance of RSI (repetitive stress injury)
- Place the speakers for the optimum audio experience; perhaps 8-12 inches (20-30 cm) from each side of the monitor.
- The printer should be located such that you can remove printer output with a minimal reach from the base position.
- Other peripherals (scanner, for example) should be mounted in proximity proportional to the amount of use they receive.
- Space for reference books you use every day (dictionary, thesaurus, Stroustrup, Prosise, etc.). The same goes for media (CD's, DVD's).
- And above all else, have a convenient place to sit your largest coffee cup:-D.
