I actually like the Ribbon bar. I have liked it since Office 2007. It took me by surprise and swept me off my feet but now I'm in love. :-O

Jury's still out with me. I think it makes usability better, but at the cost of discoverability. It's easier to find something that you already know the software can do (usability) but if you're trying to find something that you're not even sure if the software is capable of (discoverability), it's much more difficult than menus, imo.

I disagree. Once you know where it is at sure, but I know the software does "xxx" where the heck did they move it?

That is why you right click it and you then click "hide" "minimize". I like my real estate as well.

How it feels to be a minority? Do you experience some sort of discrimination or disgust towards you from the “normal” people? Do you feel yourself a “different“ or somehow inferior human being? Please don’t get me wrong, I even have friends who like the Ribbon, though we never discuss that matter.

The ribbon is not good for your mental health. It’s so far from any logic that the continuous usage can lead to serious brain cells lost and consequent addiction to the Metro style interfaces. Ribbon is a result of implementing some awkward statistical result of how often the menu items are used and not follows the natural order of the things. It’s a pure evil! Disaster! A poison mist coming from the fancy look against usability swamp. I say no more.

I'm a developer. I'm not sure I have any mental health for the ribbon to be bad for! You may be on to something with the Ribbon -> Metro addiction, though. I love the Metro interface. I own a Zune HD (32GB) which was my first introduction to a Metro-type UI. I purchased a Samsung Focus (WP7 phone) when they first came out. And I'm currently running the Windows Developer Preview (Win8). I really like all of them. I'm a sick, sick man, aren't I?

Even more reason to embrace and to assimilate. Resistance is futile. :)
