    Only if you are playing a long position and choose you stock carefully (there are some under valued manufacturing stocks out there if you look)

    Yeah, they have bottomed IMO. (And I only ever buy long on stocks. I dont do spreads and dont do futures. I haven't got the balls for them. :) )

      I remember I made a killing on ARM stocks in the Early noughties just before Intel purchased ARM... that was fun times.. If only the wife would give me permission to dabble again JC

                  Too much leverage. Yes, you can win big, but you can lose big. I think you also need to follow the market closely and have a real time stock data feed. For now I amuse myself with just stocks, since playing on the markets isnt my principle income, more just a sideline, so I dont devote the bulk of my time to it.

                      Too much leverage. Yes, you can win big, but you can lose big. I think you also need to follow the market closely and have a real time stock data feed. For now I amuse myself with just stocks, since playing on the markets isnt my principle income, more just a sideline, so I dont devote the bulk of my time to it.

                      I don't think spreads are any riskier than taking say a long or short on a single position. When I traded for a few weeks, I was only allowed to trade spreads, not individual contracts. But yes, this is assuming you are trading in real time, which is the only trading I would ever do.

                        Do you mean futures (options)? I dont trade those either. Just plain old stocks bought through a broker. I have done quite well over the years, certainly well enough by my standards, makling 100% a year when the market is right. Spreads can make vast fortunes, but equally can wipe you out in a day. Too risky. I prefer slow and simple. :)
