    1. Search - you have to be kidding..... go here: http://goffconcepts.com/products/filesearchex/download.html 2. Windows Explorer - select a file - right click - select Open With - if you have the same EXE in different places - and select one - there is no guarantee you'll be opening the file with the intended EXE. Completely useless. 3. Windows Live Mail - this one is a serious joke - go here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ 4. DirectShow Filters - sure thing...: a) go here: http://www.makeyoutubevideo.com/disablemicrosoftdtvdvdvideodecoder.html b) then install K-Lite Codec Pack: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k\_lite\_codec\_pack.htm and it's only 11:30 am ...

DirectShow... Codecs - if you're using Windows 7 - unless you never watch or listen to any type of media - you use it...

Thanks, my AV knowledge is very poor; if it works I'm happy.

I'm coding DirectShow and a certain codec (decoder) was really messing up the video streams for MP4s. Please enlighten me how I can insert VLC in the filter graph. As in: http://www.docwheel.com/images/dwmedia-player-multi-threaded.jpg

Microsoft's dtv codec is given higher preference over other codecs when creating the graph if it can connect the pins.

I use Agent Ransack for search (free), and, imho, it makes the native Win7 search seem like a dying snail. My votes, also, for VLC, and Directory Opus. best, Bill

VLC does not use DirectShow. So no filter graph (as you know it).

                      IronScheme
                      ((λ (x) `(,x ',x)) '(λ (x) `(,x ',x)))

And .... are you ready for this? I am using DirectShow in our application. And yes - as it's known by people that use GraphEdit et al ... it's a - are you ready for this? "a filter graph". p.s I do have VLC - and it is excellent. The VLC code is however GPL - and that is a showstopper.
