Hello guys, I want to install iMesh, but I am scared that it will install a bunch of spyware for me. What is the best software for removing the spyware/adware added by these types of programs? Jeremy. Jeremy Pullicino Professional C++ Developer Done any hacking lately?
Hey Use Kazaa lite rather, No Adverts. It claims to be Spyware free.v 2.0.2 has got rid of those irritating popup windows. Sweet search feature's as well. Goto http://www.kazaalite.com/ for the latest version. |-)

How about this idea... Don't use programs (or support their programmers) who allow spy-ware to be bundled with their crapp. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends
Ah the principles! You would have made a good communist ;)

I think he is referring to the fact that it uses Cydoor. According to the iMesh site: "iMesh is installed with the Cydoor banner and popup engine. The Cydoor ad engine is NOT a SpyWare software. Neither iMesh or Cydoor tracks the iMesh users in any way or collects any data about them. We’ve put a lot of effort in becoming 'SpyWare Clean' by talking to all the main SpyWare gurus and following their advices about telling our users ahead about the Cydoor ad engine, and making sure we and Cydoor only do ad delivery activities. It is necessity for us to sell advertising space in the form of banners and popups on our iMesh client. The banners and popups provide us with a revenue stream that enables us to provide you with a free and easy-to-use iMesh software." I don't know how they can say that they don't track users though. They have to track to some extent to ensure that they get thier money from clicks. It can be considered enough of a statistic that the click came from an iMesh user. I wonder what Steve over @ GRC has to say about this...

How long before you think the government gets in on this? In fact, I'm syurprised they haven't tried it yet (and gotten caught at it). Communists would accept it, but I won't. BTW, I prefer "anarchist". ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

It's the new math! 421 == 156 ! You seem to be more offended than John Simmons himself. Do you usually scratch yourself where it itches other people? Did you notice the ;) ? The communists I have met, and from time to time still meet, are perfectly well willing to give up personal comfort for a higher principle. That's the only parallel. Communism isn't obedience to the state, it's submitting oneself to a principle, and supporting the powers that enforce this principle. Happy?

John Simmons / outlaw programmer wrote: and gotten caught at it Maybe that's the point - but this would be too much trust in the omnipotence of the state. A Communist would only accept it if it was for a communist country's sake, not for the greed of the market, right? John Simmons / outlaw programmer wrote: BTW, I prefer "anarchist". Not very surrising. But trying to imagine you long-greasy-haired, sitting in a half-wrecked house, drinking one beer after the other so you can create some more Moli cocktails ;) - weird image...
