How do you, personally, deal with downvotes you get? I'm thinking of two situations *inarticulate growl* right now: this one and that. In both cases, I don't know the cause for the downvote *stamping with one foot on the ground*. This is turning me a little Grinch-ish for now. Despite the minimal amount of reputation points, it still has this negative sign on it *folding arms and bristling with anger*. Time for lunch with colleagues, maybe this will cheer me up again.

Take a look at the downvoted post, and see if there is a reason for it. Did the guy leave a reason? If not, see if your post is (or could be taken as) rude or condescending. Did you correctly understand the post you were replying to? Did you make a mistake that made your answer inoperable? If there doesn't seem to be a good reason, let it go. CodeProject is quite clean but it's still the Internet and drive-by univoting is always going to happen.

I haven't been posting for too long, but there are some posts where I know I'll get 1-votes, it's just a question of how many. But there are some where I just have to go WTH? Sometime's it's not offensive or inaccurate, it's just seems like someone's having a bad day.

I never notice them. If I can, I answer the question and move on. Why bother hanging around to see what others think? That's what school kids do.

I don't. Unless someone has the gumption to explain why they did. Then you can thank them, learn from it and move on. But if you dwell on it or bring it up, well, I think by now you have ample evidence of what happens when you do. :sigh: I answer questions as best I can, when I post code I try to test the code prior to posting. And always remember, no matter how smart or clever you are, there is someone who has more experience, is smarter and is more clever than you are. And if you just so happen to be that most clever, smart intelligent person, WTF are you doing wasting your company time or your time here? Go make some money! ;P Oh, and don't get mad... you'll only bring attention to yourself. :-O

It was broke, so I fixed it.

For the record, I noticed this earlier on and added a +5 to each to (sort of) counterbalance. I have no idea why you were downvoted and felt that your question was perfectly reasonable. And, you did move it to a more appropriate forum when prompted. The bottom line is: accept that there are some people on this forum whose sole contribution is to downvote comments and articles for no good reason. Don't sweat it as it really makes very little difference to your real reputation.

Just have to move on... don't let it bother you... it used to bother me before, specially when downvotes would follow me around (as if a user was downvoting whatever I posted), but really as long as you keep contributing... the negative stuff won't matter too much in the long run. I upvoted your posts because there seemed no good reason for the downvotes.

I’m committing a Hara-Cock; it’s the same as the Hara-kiri, but instead ripping your stomach up, you move your cock from the one trousers leg to the other.

I ignore it. There are way more important things to care about. Probably because my score is so low, or maybe my score is low because I ignore it? I don't even know how all you folk track your downvotes or see where it is happening. I look for the links to find out every now and then, but never find it.
