Shock bally horror! There is no criticism for Luton Airport today, all went well. Right up to the point I got off the train at City and walked past S Paul's. City greed is the accusation from the unwashed.[^] Yay for greed! Everything Mrs Wife and I have, we got through our own effort and not from some gilded spoon. We have worked hard and have lovely homes and are able to live very comfortably. But that is because we got off our arses and went and worked. Worked hard. Yes we were both greedy and happy to take advantage if it helped us. No for the stinking unwashed - and they are unwashed. I ask, how can they afford to protest? I can't, I have to work [see above] to maintain my quality of life. Are they living on benefits? Benefits paid for with MINE and YOUR taxes? If we must stop greed, then end benefit and re-introduce the work house; maybe with slightly better standards. The stinking [deleted] outside St Pauls are there because they are unwilling to make an effort. But us greedy feckers know that already. [and breath :-D]

Panic, Chaos, Destruction. My work here is done. Drink. Get drunk. Fall over - P O'H OK, I will win to day or my name isn't Ethel Crudacre! - DD Ethel Crudacre I cannot live by bread alone. Bacon and ketchup are needed as well. - Trollslayer Have a bit more patience with newbies. Of course some of them act dumb - they're often *students*, for heaven's sake - Terry Pratchett

I quite agree. I would make benefits payable upon social work, rather than having the feckless sitting on their backsides all day.

Each person receiving benefits should do a proportionate amount of work for a tax payer at minimum wage: Cleaning the car, cutting the lawn, doing the ironing, gardening and other basic chores.

So they're out there all day because they're lazy? Makes sense. btw, if you have to work all the time then you're living above your standard, if you're even living at all and not just working all the time

I don't think so. Like most people with a job, I can only take a limited amount of time off. So the question stands as to how they can afford not to work or, if they have jobs, to take time off for long periods. I agree that the global market-driven economy is broken, but there is no viable alternative. One of the protesters was claiming that the distribution of wealth is unfair. You, that's true. When it comes to giving up her standard of living to increase that of the Chinese or Indians, I'm sure she'll stand at the back of the queue. It is one thing to rage the system is broken, but another to offer a viable alternative. If the Chinese workers woke up to the exploitation then a lot of our cheap goods would disappear and the markets would flatten themselves. In a way we need a very deep depression, in line with the 1920's and 30's, but the probable outcome - world war - is unthinkable.

Which just goes to show you're complete lack of understanding. They are not protesting against you or hard working people in general they are prostesting about a global financial collapse that you, me and them are being forced to pay for while the perpertrators of massive incompetance get bonuses that make all our salaries look pathetic.
