I don't see anything religious here. It is a case of natives fighting for their occupied lands against the occupiers.

I wish that whole Middle Eastern thing could be solved equitably and peacefully for everyone. I think it will take much humility and swallowing of pride on all sides to do so. Probably not in my lifetime, nor in my grandchildren's grandchildren's lifetimes.

If I wanted a flame war it would be there and I would be going under fire. Let's balance it back to the main post

You can not control how a thread lives. The rule is there because people take topics and spin off. If the topic is at all related to politics religion etc. then the probability of it leaning even more towards it is quite high. This causes flame wars because we are a large community of all different types.

Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet.

Not true. Is deporting a 60 year old away from his family humanitarian? No it is political (read through to some cases in there).

Was waiting for this move to answer this one. Religion is an excuse for both sides in this case. It is the opium to the masses. By the way the IDF soldier is far from religious. The real reason is territorial and cultural. Democracy (as an ideal) vs Autocracy (as an ideal with its derivatives from religion to pure power trip). Now I have a hard question here. What does one call the first and second Gulf war? Here is what I call it: One set of murderous greedy for oil zealots who hate the other lot of murderous greedy for oil zealots went to war and then one with better weapons won and flattened a while country. And then send its banks to restructure it. Now I am off to put my helmet on because here it goes. ;P

I wish that whole Middle Eastern thing could be solved equitably and peacefully for everyone. I think it will take much humility and swallowing of pride on all sides to do so. Probably not in my lifetime, nor in my grandchildren's grandchildren's lifetimes.

To this day I'm astonished the Irish managed to get their crap together, with that as an example there is still hope for some rationality.

That is an astoundingly positive example, but it took how many 100's of years? Still, it does give one hope.
