Kindle grrrrr!

So I am nearing the end of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World and decide to take a break from reading. The next thing I know, as I go to pick it up, my Kindle tells me that it is auto-updating its software and I get a message telling me to wait for the update to take place. 10 minutes later the damn thing is still updating! Grrrr:mad: All said I still love my kindle:rose:(since the update is now complete)

You do trust me, don't you? If any love is good lovin, why is prostitution illegal?? I guess I ain't seen nothing yet.
My experience so far has been that I prefer the kindle - it's lighter than a book as well as for many other reasons. I remember when I first got my kindle thinking I would need to remove the plastic with the picture on the front of the screen - turns out the plastic was clear, the E Ink is as good as the printed page in my opinion(everyone I know who has a kindle raves about it)...

I was extremely skeptical. I now prefer my Kindle. I very nearly bought for Kindle a book I wanted to read that my dad was going to lend me. But I am just a little too cheap. Only problem is my library is not going to look very good when I live in a house big enough to have one.

They can't be too far off getting a Kindle to emit a book-like scent. Then they will be 110% complete.

The auto update is like the monthly visit from Cap'n Bloodsnatch, when it's over you remember once again the reasons for love. Fortunately, the auto-update isn't monthly :)

Honestly, it depends. A quick count around my room gives me 11 books - the shelves with at least 500 of them is in the other room. (This is just the fiction books, the rest is documentation). I've learnt to avoid used book stores simply because of the space. There are a few books I still want to own physically. However, for the amount I tend to read when given the time and mood, I'm to much of a pack rat, once I own it I can't let go. The second is mobility. I'm cycling a lot, and my biggest vacation weight is books. Includign the books I buy on the road, and it's still never enough. I'm not a teenager anymore, coming home from work I often lack the focus to read. With the Kindle with me, there are much more occasions for reading. I'm a parallel reader (drove my stepfather up the walls), having a bookshelf in my pocket is nothing short of just amazing.
TL;DR: Two arguments for the kindle:

- When I read in my office (tech stuff, of course ;)) and someone comes in, I look up, put my kindle on the desk and feel like Captain fracking Picard. Can't beat that.
(On a completely unrelated note: why do I still consider the room I spent most time in "my" room?)

Rubbish, I use a phone as an ereader so my screen is even more limited but I don have to make sure I have an adequate light source, I don't need to wiggle my hand so the dead tree book gets just the right amount of light I have arranged. I don't have to try nd change pages with one hand and not dropping the dammed thing as I doze off. I can read it anywhere except direct sunlight, and I am not capable of lying on a beach and reading a book, including pitch black. If I need to read at 2am I do not irritate the wife by turning on a light. I don't EVER run out of reading material on holiday in Japan (where there is no such thing as an English book store, as the wife found out :laugh: ). I may be a Luddite in many way but not with eReaders.

-1 points to Amazon. Since they're tracking everything else about what you're reading (Brave New World - oh, the irony), the very least they could do is track the time of day of least usage, and perform the auto-update at that time to avoid interfering with your indoctrination literary excursion.
