Statistic of the day. we're with 7 billion today on this planet. That's 7 000 000 000. This would mean that more than 1 in 1000 people on Earth are member of CodeProject. That's about 0,12 % of the world's population. Pretty impressive. Certainly if you deduct from that fact that this means that at least 0,12% of the world occupies his professional career with (mostly) Microsoft based IT. If you deduce further (I'm feeling like Sherlock I guess) and take about 40% of the worlds population that is not working (too young or too old) then that figure becomes about 0,20%.

I don't think that 'Celebrating[^]' is the word I would use. Mourning the birth of the 7 billionth more like. Oh joy, just what the planet needs, another mouth. We should be shrinking the population back to a manageable amount, about 3 billion. The trouble is religionists keep telling their followers to breed like vermin so as to take over the planet, and the poor and impoverished are not encouraged to stop breeding their way to starvation. What a sad day.

Since you're being pedantic... Actually it depends on your locale, not the language. The list separator, decimal, and other characters are more a regional preference than one based on the language spoken.

In SA the thousands separator is a space, but one can't really say whether "1 000 000" is English or not. This is a nice thorny issue for software developers that assume the separator is a comma, compounded by Microsoft, until very recently, ignoring the correct en-ZA locale settings and using a comma anyway.

Since you're being pedantic... Actually it depends on your locale, not the language. The list separator, decimal, and other characters are more a regional preference than one based on the language spoken.

I do the UI's in our products, which have been localized for the U.S., several countries in Europe, Japan, China, and South Korea. The best thing you can do is follow your operating system's facility for these things and hope for the best.

Every time I see this story in one form or another I feel like screaming STOP FUCKING ABOUT WE ALREADY HAVE TOO MANY. Sadly it would be a waste of breath.
