Bryan Adams Concert Photos

If you are interested... Just four photos from the Bryan Adams concert I went to. The first three are just showing you around, while the fourth one is just plain cool. Unfortuanatley the lab that scanned my negatives in did a terrible job on the night scenes so most of them came out terribly grainy and washed out, pity (if you know of a good lab in Cape Town please yell.) I don't care much for Bryan Adams except for a song he did in the late 70s called, "Let me take you dancing". This one he'd rather not take credit for, since (1) they purposely sped up the song giving him a more girlish voice, and (2) it's Disco. Me being the Disco junkie that I am, I love that song! :) Regards, Alvaro

Paul, I took a look at your pictures hoping to catch a glimpse of Cape Town and its people. Now, keep in mind that I'm totally ignorant of South Africa's social panorama. What puzzles me is why are most (if not all) of the people in your photos white? In other words, I would have expected a very healthy dosage of black people. My supposition is that they don't like or know Bryan Adams. What's your take? Regards, Alvaro

Something like apartheid is not going to be iradicated in 50 years, never mind just 8 (since 1994.) The middle aged "non-whites" all lived under apartheid and they are not going to forget, plus their immediate children will still be told about it and often in a biased fashion. Also economically the money is still with us whites. That is why the squatter camps are called black townships, they are almost wholly non-white. This concert was held in the cities botanical gardens which is in an affluent suburb and tickets cost R260, which is a hefty price indeed. More than many non-whites earn in a week. I for one was given the tickets and most certainly would not have paid R260. Whites stick with whites, blacks with blacks, coloureds with coloureds, Indians with Indians, etc. etc. And that is not going to change for a long time. Things are of course a lot better, especially in business where money is the motivator and not cultural familiarity. Find a business gathering and the black/white ratio is much better. And yes Bryan Adams is more a white persons dream. The non-whites like their rap, R&B, Kwaito, soul, jazz etc. more than rock. But when you consider there are at least 40 million of "them" and 5 of "us" this rock bias should not be so predominant.

Enjoying your new toy I see. :-D I like the shots you posted, especially the ducks, the Lion Head shots, and the Sunset. Cool pics! I used to be a fan of Bryan Adams in early days, but I don't really like his newer stuff. Still, tunes like Summer of '69 and Heaven always bring a smile and set my foot tapping. ....back in the summer of 69'..... Notorious SMC
