You mean you did not use a brown paper bag No, I regret to say that I did not use a paper bag. We were walking between parties and one of my friends spotted the cops and told me to hide the beer. I tried (yeah right, I couldn't even feel my legs) but we got busted anyway. I don't think they would have even bothered us if I hadn't raised suspicion by trying to hide it.

Michael Martin wrote: I'd just say ' f*** off c***, and get the breataliser out'. they'll do that, too. but it doesn't take much to put you over the limit in most places (just a couple of quick beers would probably do it). you're better off avoiding it. Michael Martin wrote: Is that in the constitution? tough call. a lot of people would like to think that a breathalizer violates the 5th amendment (self-incrimination) and maybe the 4th (illegal searches). but the laws are well-entrenched. and if you resist road-side, they'll just arrest you and make you fight it out in court. -c

It was used recently to indicted a bar tender because one of his customers had a car accident after going out of the bar totally drunk, killing 2. Jeez, that's stupid. The only time an officer should be able to do that is if the drunk person is causing trouble. Luckily, the police in my town are pretty lenient, I've been caught drinking beer while walking down the sidewalk and all they did was make me pour it out (God, I had to waste good Budweiser!:)). I really like that they are trying to cut down on alcohol related accidents but punishing people for having some harmless fun isn't right. Brad Jennings

Sounds like a case of Smalldickitis. Feeling the need to be seen as a big man. Seriously, what if the person getting pissed is a passenger or is getting a cab home. How is this a danger to the public? Is it true that US police give sobriety tests by getting people to count, say the alphabet and touch their nose? I'd just say ' fuck off cunt, and get the breataliser out'. Isn't the US the most technologically advanced country in the world and they still test for alcohol like it's 1620 or something. Is that in the constitution? Actually, that more from TV and movies. The more common test these days is to ask you to follow a finger or the like without moving your head. If intoxicated, the eyes can't track smoothly, but follow in a "jerky" fashion. Much more reliable than the ones you mentioned. Michael Martin wrote: get the breataliser out'. Isn't the US the most technologically advanced country in the world and they still test for alcohol like it's 1620 or something. Is that in the constitution The breathalizer is the common road test, but in MOST states, one can refuse it in favor of a blood test. This, however is gauranteed to cost you the rest of the night riding about with Cops, and cooling your arse in the can waiting for the blood test. In England it is illegal to be (not merely serve) intoxicated within a public house. How the hell they enforce that one I'd like to know. [edit] Can anyone point me to some reliable information about this? It was something my dad told me (we used to run a pub and worked in them till '98 or so).

It's clearly in the same category as Cowboy Bebop, but I would say it's IMHO a little less good: There isn't the beautiful drawing style there's on Bebop, and the music is less impressive :) However characters are interesting and the stories seem good. I don't know Vampire Hunter, but I will look for it, thanks for the tip :)

My bad, I figured you didn't use it because you were explaining what it was :-O Anime is the term I've always used, but some people prefer Japanimation. Then there is Hentai which is "porn" (the leading type of hentai is 'tentacle rape' where monsters rape women, usually with penis shaped tentacles X|) Then there other terms to refer to gay/lesbian hentai, but I forget what those are. KaЯl wrote: There isn't the beautiful drawing style there's on Bebop, and the music is less impressive I'll give you that, it might just be how I ended up watching Bebop as opposed to Trigun in that I had long breaks between episodes of Bebop where-as I watch all of Trigun over a couple nights. I think the story of Trigun is better than Bebop; but my prior reason probably has some influence on that as well. Vampire Hunter D is way different, it is a movie (rather old as well). But it was also the first anime I saw and it hooked me. James "It is self repeating, of unknown pattern" Data - Star Trek: The Next Generation

We use here the generic term of "manga" to cover japanimation, but I wasn't sure the word was international :) James T. Not really original, I know :-D

For something completely different you could look for "Sakura Diaries", its a bit fucked up (a girl falls in love with her cousin) but was still fun to watch. I didn't get to see all of it, but "Excel Saga" was WAY messed up. There was another one that was making the rounds last summer called "Jungle wa.... " something or other, it was another quirky one. Both of those were fan-subs (ie, someone taped the show as it aired in Japan then subtitled it manually). James "It is self repeating, of unknown pattern" Data - Star Trek: The Next Generation
