Would you buy a desktop mail client from Google for $0.99?

I know its 99 cents but why pay for Gmail on your ipad when you can use Safari - which is pretty good on its own? Thoughts anyone? For both sides? I'm curious as to what the world thinks... :) ________ John Y. Developer

Because people will pay for anything. I am currently on the fence about releasing a bunch of Android apps I have made just to see how quick .99 adds up (or more specifically, .60 since Google gets its share). Of course, I don't want to support users that will only pay $0.99.

Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

If a 1000 people buy it every month for an year, that's still $7200. And if you created the app in say 50 hours or so, that's not bad.

I was just being nice. We all know Ennis quite well here, even his mother wouldn't be inclined to buy any mobile apps he publishes. :-D

Not unless there was a conspiracy preventing me using an email client of my choice and manually setting the pop/smtp servers on an account by account basis. I currently use Outlook (on my laptop) to access 2x google mail addresses already and 2x my own domain addresses, and Outlook on my desktop for my 2 own domains only. I very rarely using a web based client for any mail (other than for my employer, which again is outlook web access). And only once in a blue moon will I log into googlemail online, using when out somewhere to send test message or drop move things between locations. I use the in built email apps on my Android phone and Android tablet without any problems.
